My biggest problem with dragonflight

Timers.
Everything in the world is on a timer.

Want to do the seige? Come back in an hour.
Want to do the feast? Come back in 2.5 hours.
Want to do the new storm event? Nope come back in… well wowhead doesn’t track that one so ive no idea what its timers are.

What i would like to do is grind out some of the storm achievements for killing mobs in each type of storm in each zone.
Well that means doing 16 different storms. Its random (or at least seems so) which one is up, and theyre not always up.

Once youre happy with your gear, and youve maxed out your renown, its just up to chance if there will be anything to do when you log on.

To be clear, im not complaining about a lack of stuff to do. Im just complaining about if the game will let you do it on your own schedule.

I agree.
WoW has been about playing the game how the devs want us to, when the devs want us to for a few expansions now.
Which Faction will I grind today? whatever emissary is up.
Can I get my Legion invasion done for the Order Hall campaing, well tomorrow you might be able to.
Who has control of Darkshore this week? ok I’ll check back next week.
Which Torghast wings are up this week? oh well, not the one I wanted.

And it started in WoD with random NPCs appearing in your Garrison and you had to log in each day and check if it was the Trader you needed for the recipe or Harrison Jones for that one quest you needed for that achievement or the Inn Quest for whatever. Plus the daily cooldowns on profession activities.

Then they added Fated Raids so you had to schedule your raiding around that for the particular rewards.

What about Addons and the UI mess?

The ui is a standard one, i dont mind it at all tbh, also if your game stutter its an addon issue because i had that yesterday

Cant be an addon must be blizzards fault cos :sob:

Although I’m actually enjoying the game right now. I can’t help but agree with OP on this sentiment.

Well, regarding storms, it would be useful if there was some kind of schedule so you could plan which storm you wanted to do.

Like Assaults in BFA were on a Timer, but they appeared at certain times and would go through one by one. These storms are just random, and I either have to check in to see which one is up every hour. and if I’m 5 minutes late, I’ve missed the rare and just forget about them.

I stopped doing storms after the first week.

I agree with you. Its really annoyin. I know there are addons and other stuffs. But indont want to schedule my evening basing on dragonkeep siege (its an iperbole).
By luck thi exp is dont push you to be fomo so im not so unhappy.
But this is a valid point.

Can’t be an addon when you don’t use addons.

Friend of mine legit quit over the game’s performance issues and he uses 0 addons.

This has been my favourite expansion launch since Legion, I’m really positive about this expansion, It’s a step in the right direction for me. I have more stuff to do than I ever have as a Solo player. However I agree with the OP. It was almost perfect for me but needing wowhead or weakauras to track timers to do my world stuff is a bit much.

One of my biggest praises of the expansion was finally being able to log off an alt and be done for the week. That feeling has now gone. I have to log in at certain times or if I don’t rush my dinner I’ll miss something that’s about to pop that I’ve been waiting on for 2-3 hours. Right now I feel like playing football manager but Storms are about to pop again. I would rather do something when I decide not when the game gives me a window of opportunity.

I don’t mind weekly quests like timewalkers as I can log in at anytime and do them without thinking “from 6-7pm I need to do this”

(Ive decided to remove world quests from the list. Although the long wait between getting new ones does add to the feeling of waiting around for something to actually happen, at least you dont have to worry about showing up on time to do them. So theyre not actually part of the same problem.)

Annd that’s what put me off caring about that content until the timers are gone. Haven’t done the 3k rep weekly in at least 3 weeks cause the community feast is once in a blue moon

I checked for feast all the time on alts, then when I suddenly came in it was 1 minute left.

Nice timer this game got, do I * need to check Wowhead all the * time to play the game?

All the events that are now on timers should be changed so they instead work cross-server and the NPC there just offeres the option to queue for the event to people getting there, like with the scenarios (for example the Legion introduction scenario).

  • Siege, feast, new storm event, the two trials in the least

Let a group start with it as soon as there are like… 5 players (trials) and a maximum of 40 players (for siege / storm) or 20 (for feast), etc. … the later we are into the expansion, the less the queue waits for additional players and just lets the event start with a few after for example max. 5 minutes of waiting.

  • it’s a bit harder for the storm events, there I’d suggest some reliable timers at least like there were for Legion invasions, so one can plan ahead

wtf you want to cook the soup everytime ? ><

are you masochist or something

As someone who plays for an hour here and there when I have the time, I agree. I don’t really have the ability to add WoW events into my daily schedule because, well, life. It’d be nice to be able to log on and just do whatever without worrying about timers.

I think it’s fine. the world does not revolve around you, but is still going on online or not.

IMO it just adds to it being an online world that we partake in, something that the game has been missing these past years.

Yeah it is terrible. Over 2 chars i have managed to do 2 sieges and 3 feasts since launch.

This is part of the reason why I do less of the events, but I think it is that way to be able to pull in enough players at the same time.

Off topic:

In BFA I wasn’t happy with the story so I went through dungeon spamming, to level up/gear all of my characters. In SL you could only play a dungeon after you unlocked it.

In the same period, I ran TW in 10 characters, to get the badges rewards 10 times. When the new heirlooms upgrades came for SL you could only buy them, with TW badges, if your character, was above a certain level (I don’t recall which, but I think it was level 60).
I solved the problems, by leveling everyone at the same time, in DF expansion

I was unsubscribed and decided to have fun as a level 20 Twink. During DF launch period they made a special bracket for free to play and people who have their character XP locked, like the level 29.

If things are time gated, I thought  perhaps this would be a perfect opportunity to play, maybe 2 or more characters at the same time, for the people who only play one. Nope. Timed :clock1: events say: Hello .

Edit: typing.

Cheers.

Yeah there was never a cap on daily’s or raid lockouts in wrath and tbc and classic. Oh wait. There’s always been restrictions people just whined less back in the day we have more now then back then and more options to play or not
