I have a little problem that is very annoying. I just subscribed for WoW Classic to play hardcore after a long break and after a short update it seems my graphics driver is not supported anymore.
The problem is I have Win7 on this PC and AMD 7700 series graphics card. I know it’s an old setup but I used this PC for running WoW until last year (classic) and played retail up to Legion without any problem.
There is no update for my graphcis card, I use the latest … what now? I bought a game that was running fine until the last update and now I can’t play anymore …
it is funny that I cannot run CLASSIC with a PC that was put together 10 years after the games original release.
is there any solution to this? (I know I can install WIN10 but what’s the case if I would like to do it later but I’d like to play now?
What do you mean by “is not supported anymore”? Does the game not start, do you get some error message?
The news article about the Classic HC links to a support article with system requirements and based on those your computer does not meet the system requirements. There is older (two years) support article about WoW Classic but I suspect that is outdated.
I have the #132 error with the Graphics Driver not supported issue which is a bit annoying cause I just took a break after playing Wrath of the Lich King Classic last year in december. I’ve been playing WoTLK Classic on the same comp with the same drivers.
You aren’t playing on the old client but on the modern one that uses the newer DX version.
During Legion, they dropped support for old shader models (old GPUs) and later on this change went to the Classic client.
Right now minimal requirement for AMD cards is GCN 4 or newer arch. And HD 7700 is way too old at GCN 1. You would have to replace it. Performance wise it’s below modern integrated graphics even.
Yea well … it’s just not right that I would like to play the classic version and it does not work after I played Classic Wrath of the Lich King without issues.
They could have used newer client for HC while WoTLK is older without this requirement.
Still - does the game blocks from launching with the GPU unsupported message or launches and can be played ignoring the warning and then randomly crashes with #132?
#132 error means, that there are some serious issues with your PC. Faulty PC-RAM is the usual casue for this error. But it also could be a very old PSU, the mainboard etc.
132 does not have to indicate a hardware fault. Could also happen when the game tried to issue an instruction the CPU or GPU could not handle (like if the GPU is old and unsupported…)
Like the system requirements page I linked says: "
*World of Warcraft will attempt to run on hardware below minimum specifications, including HDDs, DirectX11, and older CPUs and integrated GPUs. However, the game experience may be significantly diminished."
In this case you seem to be encountring the crashes or errors. Time to consider upgrading if you want to play, I guess.
Yea it is an old 2013 setup. It’s just sad that I was playing WoTLK Classic last year then I can’t play Classic HC anymore. I understand that the game evolves but I think if I would like to access a state of the game where the graphics are almost 100% equivalent to the original release I should be able to access it with a PC config put together 8-9 years after the game release.
After I get the #132 crash error the game writes that my graphics driver is not supported which is bad since I’m running the latest driver possible for Win7.
It is an old PC which I have for gaming as I cannot use my new one for it since that is my work-pc.
Unfortunately, although the content is “Classic WoW” in terms of game mechanics, quests, spells, items, etc… it now runs on the latest code that is also used for retail WoW, not on the one used 10 years ago.
So in terms of PC requirements, all versions of WoW are identical.
