My latest experiences on Argent Dawn

Hi,
I am baffled, and somewhat amazed.
I am a person who can tolerate RP, maybe even take part if I feel like it.
And no, I’m not talking about that kind.

I just want to talk about the fact that for the last week of me playing there, I have constantly been seeing the same faces/names/guilds/opposing faction players.
I can’t even start to remember when was the last time I experienced something like this, maybe 2008?

Have I been missing something? since I have characters on Silvermoon aswell, but unless you’re in a guild, there isn’t much hope to ‘interact’ with the same players.
Something I can’t really explain, it just feels a lot different.

EDIT:
tl;dr I like it when there’s no other connected realms

I really don’t get this post? Are you baffled in a good or bad way? And why are you baffled to begin with? Seeing the same people RPing on a server is normal n guess, or am i missing something?

Why do you feel you can “tolerate” rp on an rp server? That’s like saying you can tolerate rock music at an rock concert.

I was thinking about same thing the other day. I see the same faces on timeless isle every single day. It feels like we’re all saved to the same shard? Idk but I like it. We sit together, talk (CAN YOU IMAGINE) and we fukken socialize with each other… crazy stuff

This is what I was trying to convey in my OP.
I wonder if it’s always the same shard, that’s the kind of game experience i’m after.

Are you talking about Horde or Alliance side? Or is it the same in both? I have few alts in Argent Dawn and I logged on one of them the other day to do some raid runs in Northrend, and I saw a lot of people in Dalaran. I was quite confused at first but then I realized I was in Argent Dawn

I have alliance characters, and it does seem like it favors that side population wise.
Can’t really speak for the horde

How’s Goldshire on AD, still bussy as usual or less so nowadays ?

yeah AD has it’s own community, you’ll always find otomji if it’s the correct name dancin’ before Goldshire.

You’ll always find that worgen with a void elf female against him thinking that that’s his GF but that’s actually a dude IRL

You’ll always find me on my pandaren spreading the words of the Holy Garrosh Church, great realm tbh.

goldshire is a popular hang out place for both horde and alliance. sometimes the regulars of “why do you noob” guild would invade goldshire in groups. but most of the time it’s just a hang out place.

Surprisingly the thing you complain about people complain about the opposite. maybe they should make a char on AD!

RP realms are not connected to other realms so there’s going to be fewer players as a whole.

Even though Argent Dawn is a huge RP server, not everyone there will RP. I’d be surprised if as much as 5% of the population RP.

I probably should clarify my OP about the fact that i enjoyed this experience, lol.

Welcome to a World without too much sharding.

All the RP Realms are sharded with each other, but not with the ‘normal’ PvP/PvE realms, so yeah, you will see the same faces around. Its part of the reason they changed how Sharding worked on RP realms, basically.

It’s about 70% Alliance, 30% Horde. That’s still a -lot- of Horde players, but yes, it is a noticeable, if not insurmountable, population difference.

Shudders “Do not venture there, naught but ruin, Off-Realmers and Trial Accounts dwell there, and it is a wicked den of sin and depravity”. Crazy thing is that Argent Dawners hate the place, its people coming from other realms in some bizarre cyber-sex tourist way that keep it populated. Though I have heard if you turn War Mode on, you actually get a ‘clean’ version you can RP in.

I’m not sure about that figure. Not Everyone RP’s but I think it is far closer to 40% of the population do, Definitely higher than 5% I mean going by Server Pop figures I actually know (to interact with or by name) more than 5% of the server, considerably so, all RP’ers.

You just need to know where the Hubs are, to get the maximum experience out of it. As ever, Stormwind on Alliance, Old Town, Cathedral district, Mage district. On Horde its Orgrimmar’s Valley of Honour, and the Eastern side of Silvermoon. There are other locations, but those are the generally used ones.

I play on AD and I do rp but more in character rp than anything else.

It is a wonder to behold though, seeing the same people all the time reminds you of why WoW was sooo damn good back before CRZ and sharding.

If there is one thing I would drop from this game if I was in charge for a single day it would be CRZ, Sharding I would place priorities in for party/raid/guild/realm/battlegroup.
While CRZ has a purpose it’s a useless one unless they go to full on world servers with all the benefits of being on a single realm included.

Not all servers have the population of Argent Dawn.

Honestly i was expecting juicier story after reading the headline but oh well. That actually sounds really nice to me seeing same people around instead of strange faces. :smile:Now thinking of rolling an alt there.

Go to Goldshire inn and i bet you will bite your own words back on there.

I have yet to indulge myself with such things, but I don’t mind other people doing what they want.
Too bad there are no other realms which are not connected.

The no sharding is the entire reason I play on AD.

I hardly ever RP. But it’s just nice seeing the same people in Boralus on a daily basis. Instead of seeing a bunch of XYZ from realm ZYX that you never interact with again.
