So… The following perspective is from healer (low lvl keys) and dps (higher keys). I really like doing M+ runs, and I kinda enjoy that the mechanics now are a lot more punishing, there’s a lot more emphasis on DPS getting out of stuff and using defs, keeping themselves alive. I think from that point of view the system is great, as it rewards experience and demands all participants to pay attention and do their part. Healers can’t just overheal everybody else’s mistakes, which make sense imo.
Yet, the overall experience feels like a huge struggle this season. Runs with friends are great, we try, we wipe, we try again, we get better - that’s fun imo. But getting into this content as a pug is terrible. You can spend half an hour or more clicking and clicking in the dungeon signup panel as dps, no one’s going to take you bc no matter how high your rating is, someone else has a higher orange nr or a 1pt higher ilvl and will be picked, or bc you’re not this class or that class. I don’t want to spend my time in the signup panel playing whack-a-mole, I want to play the game.
I was thinking, what if the M+ system was also auto-matching like the HCs and normals? Ppl could still be matched based on reasonable rating ranges, but would have a more even chance of finding a group. Even if you manually pick the folks with highest ilvl and rating, there’s no guarantee that the group will actually be good, might as well be done blindly by the system.
I’m curious what everyone else’s exp is and what you guys think of auto-matching?
I have seen tihs suggestion crop up several times, but just like the other content - DPS is vastly represented. They would simply kick you and requeue endlessly until they do get what they think is right in these cases.
I can only recommend putting up your own key and making your own rules, but if you got a poor M+ dungeon no one’s going to enter that ofcourse if they as tank/healer can sign away their time to what they perceive as potential better dungeon expectations.
This is a group challenge.
PuGs treat this as if it’s an individual challenge (often, of course not always).
You can’t have the fun group challenge and have it easily accessible to some individuals working together.
There probably needs to be some new form of content that is more PuG accessible. But to make M+ suitable for most PuGs would probably kill that fun group experience for friends working together.
Ah… I didn’t think of this “workaround”… Perhaps there would be a way to prevent that, kinda like the deserter thing.
I mean, the content would be exactly the same, but the signup flow a little bit more inclusive. Once you’re in it’d be up to you to dodge, use def, etc. whether you are on voice comms or not, just as it’s the case now.
Surely this current system is not an ideal one, as it’s much harder for some to progress than for others.
