So, this might come as a surprise because most of the feedback i hear about Frost DK seems to be rather positive and i agree in many points, for example 2 GCDs less that basically are just a lame AoE effect with RW and D&D.
I have been maining Frost DK for over 15 years now and for the last years i always was a 2 handed Frost DK Enjoyer, because big numbers are big fun for my monkey brain. Now that they have killed the Obliterate AoE and transferred that part over to Frostscythe, i am asking myself constantly “am i the only one who thinks pressing Frostscythe in AoE feels MUCH worse than Obliterate?”
It’s not even about Frost dealing no damage, because that is certainly not the case as we know from performance in season 3. It feels awesome to press Reapers Mark and burst everything down. But tbh, i just miss that giant overhead swing that always crits with massive numbers and i’d rather have Frost DK lose Frostscythe that doesnt even have an exciting animation and have Obliterate do the work in AoE, as it does in single target.
Also sidenote, i think Frost DOES need work for midnight and it’s sad to see, nothing happens. Because right now, there is no real build diversity. As long as breath doesn’t get deleted or becomes baseline, i don’t think any other talent capstone can thrive. I mean we basically NEVER EVER pick anything else than Obliteration (so that should have been baseline for 6+ years) and BoS. I would like to see NEW exciting capstones that really bring the Winter to people, you know what i am saying?
Anyway, if you like Frost how it is right now, you are entitled to that opinion, but from my point of view, they cut out identity from the spec, don’t bring anything new to the table besides maybe killing streak (which is really cool) or the reworked ERW.
