Thundermaw would have been a better name

now you’ve just ruined it all by putting it under the radar.

oop sorry

It’s actually a legitimate girl’s name in France and its variations (Fanni and Fani) are used in multiple Northern and Eastern European countries. :slightly_smiling_face:

The name is quite common in Scotland, but it has decreased in popularity due to its different meaning here.

Iron Bru did an advert on it a few years ago. (https://youtu.be/ibuLgsVcQUY?si=67tkzCmLmGO9nbro)

what’s the worst name to have between Karen and fanny?

Probably karen since most people associate karen with being a bad person and fanni with just having clueless parents.

It’s fairly common in the Netherlands too.
I’m guessing it’s not used as slang for the same part of the body in the US … eg they have fanny packs, we have bum bags.

A reason it isn’t a name used past gen X for sure

Way back in WotLK my sister couldn’t even use her own name for a character she tried to make because it was deemed offensive due to the first four letters…

Her name’s Anusha. We still laugh about it.

… aaaaaaaand removed~ (Soon;TM)

I loved seeing these tongue-in-cheek kind of references…
They aren’t offensive, they aren’t extreme, and they can mean plenty of things.
It’s becoming a very narrow hallway, tho, lately…

I would seriously not be surprised if it gets changed. :dracthyr_shrug:

I have an Irn Bru fridge magnet that says “Fanny gets you though”

I am amazed how they got so many ads through Ofcom but I do believe this one was banned.

Fanny has a very different meaning in England.

Over here it refers to the front bum on a woman.

I know - I’m English
I didn’t realise until recently it means something different in the US

It’s a common, if some what old fashioned, girls name.

There once was a time where Blizzard had a sense of humour and put all sorts of weird easter eggs into the game including, yes, adult references. Early Warcraft was generally very brutal and full of adult references. Ah well.

This is my favourite:

It’s certainly not common in England any more. Quite the opposite actually, it is very uncommon in modern England.

It is now only really used as an insult or to refer to female genitalia.
