My thoughts about subtlety rogue (PvE & PvP)

I only play one character on casual level, I started playing this class in MoP and I liked it. I know my class well, but I’m not a professional and I don’t want to be pro in this game, just good enough. After my first Castle Nathria raid I like to share my thoughts about this spec:

PvE in general
Generally the sub is performing okay in world content. I can nearly one-shot any mobs, I can defeat nearly any enemies. In the maw with a little tactics I can solo nearly every elites. The burst makes the sub feeling strong and with some good legendarily items it’s even stronger.

Torghast
On the third week I found out my play style and which anima powers are good for me. I always buld a ‘tank’ rogue and I can easily solo even the layer 6 without problems. I died max 1-2 times on some pulls, but those are was my mistake. It feels much better than on the first 1-2 weeks. I don’t know how other classes performs in Torghast, but the subtlety rogue can be strong too.

Dungeons
I’m not doing dungeons so I don’t have enought experience.

Castle Nathria raid
As subtlety rogue I was on the bottom on the DPS list all the time. My rotation fell apart after 1-2 minutes, I couldn’t keep up my performance. The feeling of my strong worgen rogue turned to be a weak doggo. My damage was just not enough and I had to leave the raid on the very next day…
This is the main problem for me, I can’t do enough damage for long fights, because I can’t reset Shadow Dance in time and without Shadow Dance the subtlety rogue is nothing. Maybe the assassination is a better. (Any suggestion with rotation for the longer fights?)

Casual BGs
Casual people usually afraid of rogues which makes anger on the forums and I can totally understand it. (I don’t talk about pro players because they know how to handle the openers.) Sub definitely needs more work to be more casual friendly because less-experienced players are have no chance for survive and it makes frustration and anger which is not good.

Casual arenas
I’m not doing arenas so I don’t have enough experience.

Overall
I feel our class is in beta state right now. This is our big live test and probably it will take months even years for the developers to solve these problems. The subtlety spec is good in PvP, the assassination in raids and the outlaw in dungeons, but I don’t want to switch between these specs always and I don’t want to see the community frustrated because of us. Make all of them viable in both PvE and PvP content but don’t make it overtuned!

Sub - Excels in PvP due to high burst. Wouldn’t raid with it.
Sin - Excels at long single target fights with slow burn to optimal/steady dps. Ideal for raiding.
Outlaw - Good all-rounder. Weak in PvP. Excels at cleave, particularly Mythic+

Outlaw isn’t weak in pvp anymore. The other 2 are still better tho.

Fixed what you meant to imply with Shadowlands currently

Yeah, I was also extremely low on the DPS charts with my sub rogue in the first raid day. I do fine in M+, but in Castle Nathria I’m afraid I may need to drop out with my rogue and gear up some other DPS class.

What conduits do you use for m+ as sub guys ?

Planned Execution Bis and Sharpened Stillietto for 2nd.
