Am I the only one who is afraid that the only use for player housing in Midnight is going to be essentially a personalized hub to hang out in?
IMO, if not already planned, then housing should have most if not all of the following mechanics implemented into it:
Dungeon & raid portals in your home(providing you’ve earned them)
Easy way to make player housing practical for the hardcore players, and perhaps make them care about actually engaging with the feature and decorating their house, in the long run.
Permanent crafting stations
Similarly with the point above, this would of course instead make crafters very happy
All professions should be able to craft furniture via crafting orders(rugs from tailoring/leatherworking, weapon & armor racks from blacksmithing, misc teleporters from engi, etc.)
This will tie player housing into the economy just like high end gear crafting. The reason why I think all professions should be able to craft housing items and not just some new carpentry profession is because I believe that’s more dynamic and would spice up the professions we already have.
Guild halls!
It’s not enough to own a house of your own. Guilds should be a big focus for this feature. It makes all the sense in the world, as the game is meant to be social. You should still be able to have a house of your own if you wish, but the combined effort of an entire guild investing into a guild hall - upgrading, decorating, filling it with cutting edge portals - would make housing a truly epic feature.
In short, please Blizz, make this a feature for all sorts of players, not just for dollhouse RP.
Let us watch youtube by sharing links on our Goblin made televisions at home, imagine watching wow videos in wow, listening songs, and being able to do all these with your friends on your couch with a fireplace next to you ! The game named “Tower Unite” already has this system and if wow brings this feature, it would be the first MMO bringing that to their game! Spread this idea if you liked it, make Blizzard hear it.
Watching YouTube from player housing? What is next? Linking players’ facebook, instagram, twitter/x account, so they can post on social media from wow housing?
Wanna explain how listening songs on goblin made tv, and watching ‘youtube’ stuff ‘only’ will destroy WoW? It would only make the time at home more fun.
Unnecessary to you, fun to me. I play wow for fun. I have friends in wow that i have never added in any other platforms than Battle.net. Such feature in house would be a great way to socialize with those friends. Showing our favorite songs to eachother, watching documentaries etc. I just like the idea of watching YT in wow alone or with others more than watching it on browser. Not even talking about the opportunities it creates for role players, i am not a roleplayer myself but i do think this TV system would make housing even more fun.
Sure, I can understand that. I don’t like to link battle.net/wow account to any other social media account either.
You can already create groups/communities on battle.net, and share youtube link on battle.net chat. I wonder what housing TV does extra.
And if the feature has Youtube integrated (history, subscription, etc.), it will inevitably require you to link your battle.net account with google/youtube account, which is something you are against.
Groups and communities has nothing to do with the system i want. I find nothing fun there, so i dont even use it. What i mean by watching youtube on goblin TV is it will play the video on the screen of TV, it will NOT fill our screen with the video, it will be in the borders of the TV screen, its light will fall on the floor of our home, it will be completely on the TV screen. Can you imagine this ambiance, this atmosphere and how it feels? How can you even compare sharing links on communities and watching TV together with friends sitting on your couch with fireplace next to you. What you are saying is no fun to me at all, on the other hand, if the system i said came to wow, i already see myself watching random stuff with random ppl and enjoy our time. Is it clear? Am i clear? Can you feel the ambience difference?
