My WoW accounts keep getting banned

Hello,

Last year my WoW account got suspended. After several tries to find out what exactly happened and what caused the issue I couldn’t get any details due to privacy standarts.

Two months ago I wanted to check something out ingame and was suprised to find out my collection and achievements over the years aren’t gone after all and are shared through the WoW accounts so I decided to move on with my beloved character and start anew. Everything was going well. I was enjoying the new expansion for first time in many years until one day my second account got banned as well. I was shocked at first, thinking my suspension on my first account got carried onto the second one. After contacting the support again I was told they are not related which confused me even more. One of the responses I recieved stated that once you have some feedback in regards the situation you will contact me generally via mail but never got an e-mail back 2 months later.

All of this happened after I bought a new gaming laptop a year ago and got me wondering if it has something to do with it somehow.

A friend invited me to join him on his Classic Hardcore journey but I had to decline the offer, afraid it could happen again and didn’t let him play on my laptop worrying about his account. As much as I’m afraid to play WoW again I’m also worried about playing other games such as Diablo 3, Diablo 4 etc.

I was wondering is there an option for live testing. I could provide you my laptop via TeamViewer or other software of your choice to try identify what’s causing the issue, thinking it might be some technical problem. I even reinstalled my windows month before activating the second account.

Thank you.

P.S.:
Forgot to mention I also use the laptop for work and study as well. Currently I’m studying programing at an online university, using coding programs and testing new commands/scripts which might be the cause of the issue but as I mentioned I switched my laptop last year and I’ve been doing that on my previous one for years without having any issues.

Discussion of bans and other similar account actions are not permitted on the fora.

I would suggest that you look very carefully at your account details, including things like the email address associated with it, if you’re not receiving emails. I’ve never known this to not happen which is why I wonder if you have been hacked somehow - and that has indirectly led to a ban.

You can submit a ticket about a ban here, and there is also a link with details about compromised accounts:

Hello Nariélla,

Usually I am recieving e-mails. Both times I recieved e-mails informing me that my account has been closed. It was that last case that I didn’t get any response after been told I would recieve one.

Regarding the ban appeals, I’ve tried several times without getting further details or suggestions how it happened and how to prevent it in future and also the case got closed (marked as resolved) immediately on recieving response without an option to reply to them or any kind of dialogue. That’s why I’ve decided to seek help within the forums. As long as I remember there was an option for live chat or even phone call but unfortunelly that is no longer available.

Thank you.

You do know teamviewer software can get you banned?

So can any software like that, and macro software can get you a ban too, even if it’s for your keyboard or mouse and you never use it.

When you play make sure absolutely nothing is running in the background.

Hey Dottie,

In fact we had used TeamViewer for company purposes over the years on my other laptop and I haven’t had any issues before. Also we stopped using it like 2-3 years ago so it’s not related in that case.

Could it be the Asus Rog Strix drivers software somehow? I don’t see other possible cause other than the new laptop itself.

Usually the original mail indicates the reason for suspension / account closure and any appeal route.

Are you certain that these mails are from Blizzard and not, in fact, Phishing mails to try to get your account details from you ?

Yes I’m certain. Both times I recieved 2 e-mails, one notifying me of the canceled subscription and the other about the account closure. Also as stated in the e-mail “The support staff will not overturn these closures and may not respond to appeals” which keeps me wondering what could possibly cause such serious issues and would I be safe playing any of Blizzard’s games anymore.

In all honesty I would be inclined to raise a ticket. Really, nobody here can advise over and above generalities. Account bans are usually given for things like persistant abuse towards other players, cheating (this can be for something that seems innocuous to you but is not permitted under Blizzard’s TOS), selling gold for real money, selling account services for real money and so on.

Smaller infractions tend to lead to warnings and/or short-term suspensions.

If you really want to persist with a new account, the only thing I can suggest is you wipe your laptop and only install Windows, drivers and applications like WOW. As Dottie has mentioned, software like TeamViewer can lead to a ban - I know you said your company stopped using it, but it may be set to run at startup in the background and thus be detected.

In your shoes I’d try the ticket route one more time though.

When they say “will not respond to appeals”, it means its permanent, and you have already had several appeals rejected.

I think that this might also mean that making new accounts, will also get closed, if and when detected that they are linked to you, as they don’t want you as a customer anymore.

Is it still installed and running in the background?

What software do you have running in the background, you know the stuff down next to the clock or in the task manager. Also you seem to be avoiding the question when someone asks the reason in the email as that will at least tell us where you should look for the problem.

Also the thing that caused the ban may have happened many weeks ago. Do you use a VPN or proxy servers?

Botters use teamviewer on another computer to control the bots.

Hey Nothica,

I can understand that you may be cautious about starting a new game if one of your account has been suspended in the past.

Customer support wouldn’t be able to proactively check your PC with you, check what programs or behaviour may or may not get you suspended, or provide detailed information on what may have caused an account suspension (the goal is generally to avoid helping cheaters understand how they got caught).

That being said, if you play like a normal / average player, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

If in doubt about the use of a specific program, it’s usually best to simply avoid it. You can also review the Blizzard EULA and other documents here, if needed.

Finally, if you believe that one of your account has been mistakenly suspended, you can appeal it and we will review it for you.
