You see, I didn’t know you were supposed to do that as I avoid all spoilers. It told me to stand near Edwarde to get tasks so I presumed it was like the cooking pot. No-one told me I was supposed to dig as well. The game itself should tell you things like that … and it often doesn’t.

I am not referring to You personally. I agree that the game might be more clear about it. I don’t know whether in Your event people were writing anything or not.
But when multiple people, throughout the whole event, write something along the lines “Help digging while waiting for tasks, You’ll get them anyway”, then I’m led to believe that people not doing anything are either afk, or just watching others without the will to participate.
And You know what? I wouldn’t even care about it, if not for the simple fact, that it diminishes my effort due to how the event is scaled

I think you are far more generous than I am giving people the benefit of the doubt. It’s not beyond the wit of man to figure out you need to click on the dig piles with the rest of the people. It didn’t take me long to twig I dig dig dig and occasionally get given a task by Eaward to go do something, which is always worth more than just digging.
So when they stand there on their massive mount doing absolutely nothing but stood in everyone’s way leeching but slowing progress. I have no time for them.
I read nothing in advance and went in blind.

When they say dig… is it those areas where there is a bar showing that counts towards that “relic rescuer” achievement - I got that achievement by pure fluke and thought that was it - do we have to keep digging those over again?
… for some reason this activity does not impress me to do across my alts, so will be a long time to get all the items 
They are the ones: The digs which you can be lucky at times to click because people keep standing on top of them.

Agree re so many people on top of them - I am on a low pop server and for some reason being Horde, all I ever see are Alliance chars from Silvermoon - looks like they had groups over the areas making it hard to click/see the piles - assume it will quieten very quickly.
Maybe I’m slow, but I didn’t realise that’s what you were supposed to do. The game didn’t explain the event and no-one was saying that’s what people should be doing. I wasn’t leeching … I just didn’t realise. (And I don’t have a massive mount 
I was in the tent waiting for Edwarde to talk to me).

i think you need to do the intro quests on every alt to get the fragments on alts. i dont have it on my alt too.
There are people afking the event on large mounts. This is not someone who is confused.
When it’s lots of people afking you don’t get many rewards.
I agree nothing is explained.

I did the whole thing on my main and still only got 1 WQ reward…as soon as I did the first one the others changed to a gold reward. I feell like they are bugged TBH.
It def wasnt very well explained at the big dig site though. I also did alot of standing around before I realiesed I should be digging! (also took me time to realiese I could click the progress bar or interect key to dig as well and it didnt matter if I couldnt see what I was digging!).
Drop rates are ok though…I spent 2 days spamming the digs and got all the transmog, except the hat and the mount.
That’s the thing, I had it on my main/alts. Did one quest and they all changed to gold including this who did the intro. After the weekend there’s no more quests for any of my toons except this one.

I feel like its bugged. Im sure you are supposed to be able to do all the WQs up once for fragments then subsequent characters will just get gold.

ok i have to correct me the event does scale and afkler have a HUGE impact to not make any progress. when im alone with maybe 5 people i can dig 5 to x fragments and with afk peoploe less than 3. super frustrating and needs a fix ASAP.
people not digging should not be considered as a participant of the event and dont get any reward!
IMHO one possible solution may be to set a minimal contribution limit (set number of “pages” to dig/contribute via tasks) to receive a tome.
