So essentially, the brilliant strategists and infiltrator known as the Dreadlords were designed by Denathrius as an army, put in the hands of Zovaal his brother whom he helped power up the Maw, escape, take his sigil back, break in the Sepulcher with his very uni-directional plan to tamper with the Pattern of the First ones, set on a doomed path of deafeat as foretold by many ancient prophecies. All while the dreadlords continue working on some master plan, after his defeat… Makes you wonder what Denathrius has been skeeming all along in his 5D chess.
The only actual thing that doesn’t make sense is, Zovaal is a cosmic essence that is bound to a syntetic first one built body, just like bodies of the original Eternals pantheon we defeat in the Seplucher of the First ones, just like Pelagos will now be bound and changed into the new Arbitrer. So…
Being an eternal like Denathrius (who had to be bound inside the sword Remoria for eternity) what happens with Zovaals eternal soul/essence now that we defeated his vessel. We’re in the land of Death afterall, deafeating him does not mean death per say. All souls, cosmic essence as claimed by the dungeon journel do go somewhere.
Also where is the light side of Arthas, it’s clearly obvious his soul was fragmented just like Sylvannas, and the dark side of it, the Lich king essence was used in the forging of the Mourneblade. But where is the other part ? Surely players aren’t naive enough like the NPCs to think that was it. Sylvannas and the others have been wrong before, they all were clueless till recently about her soul being fragmented, and an exact soul prism like the one containing her soul, was containing Uther’s soul fragment, and was used when the mournblade was made from Shalamayne. Clearly there’s more of him, elsewhere, and what’s left is, by all means is the light side of Arthas Menethil.
While we find out Bwondsambi has been keeping souls for himself, protecting the Zandalari from being used by Mueh’zala and Zovaal. Makes you wonder what other souls he might have intercepted / been keeping. This story won’t be over till we find Saurfangs soul, Nathanos, and somehow make a redemption for the many good souls used as anima fuel by the jailor. I’d start from Argus, who even though used as a weapon ( tortured for milenia and then released to overload the Arbitrer ) He’s still a cosmic eternal soul, with the power of making, unmaking, who was used to speed up the demonic souls regeneration. Perhaps finding it and healing it, which might be a lenghty process will be the hope needed to know all souls will be redeemed, remade whole, fixed.
A true clear explanation for Sylvannas’s dark strategy to break the Afterlife and remake it so we’ll all free needs to be addressed. She was goal bound, heartless, unhinged, clearly influenced but it would be ridiculous to think she was dumb and never pondered at the chance of us defeating Zovaal.
Considering she saw us defeat the Legion, the Old Gods and new our potential, her dragging our arses in the Shadowlands is not coincidental, am I naive to think it was calculated as a final contingency in case Zovaal would betray her?
