Deaths no longer remove time from the timer in Mythic Keystone levels 2 and 3.
In Season 2, we’ve introduced changes to Mythic+ that are designed to provide a smoother entry point for newer players. In addition to these keystone levels being free of affixes, the goal of this change is to add an extra layer of accessibility for those just starting out.
IMO an excellent change to make M+ more accessible for people that are just starting to get their feet wet in M+ without changing the ecosystem for more seasoned players.
Make this affect all keys regardless of level and perhaps Mythic+ will be a less toxic experience, and less unforgiving if you lose time on the timer due to unexpected deaths.
Less deaths → Reduced chance for leavers, and reduced chance for mass reports due to leaving a key → More Mythic+ dungeons completed in time → Everyone’s happy → Less work for Customer Support to suspend/ban people for leaving keys → Profit!
The truth is that this kind of elitist, toxic behavior is the root as to why the Mythic+ scene is so bad. This kind of behavior often involves bashing other people over nothing and (mass)report people who criticize or disagree with them.
And then they come to the forums complaining that ”looking for a tank/healer for Mythic+ is impossible”.
It’s people like these who are the problem who makes Mythic+ go in a downwards spiral.
Yes, these kind of people are the problem. But I personally encountered „mass“ reporting only ONCE in 15 years of WoW. In a pug (28 dht I believe) I messed up because I mismerembered the route. All good, let me die, rezz me and we go. We had plenty of time.
The mage decided to kill the group and blaming me for it. Was a fun discussion.
Enough of my experiences. Toxicity is rarely an issue in wow. We went from affixes like OG bolstering, overflowing and skittish to „stun the 10 balls and get a BL for free every minute“. The 15s penalty on death (or 5s in lower keys) is only an issue if you die on a regular basis. It kinda exposes the…special people.
I wouldn’t mind removing the 5s or 15s penalty, but your goal should be not dying in the first place. 1 death, 1 full wipe or even a full wipe with BL and cds committed does not result in a depleted key.
