Mythic keystones, I'm stuck

I am getting increasingly frustrated by how the keystone system works. As of now, keystones deplete if they aren’t used, alongside depletion if they are failed. The latter is fair enough, but the penalty is that you need to pick between playing casually with whoever, or progression. You can’t do both, unless you play a lot. I am seriously fed up.

If you look at my statistics of Mythic+(this one is for Blizzard), you might read from it that I am a player who don’t really care for Mythic+, because I’m barely playing any, and I am certainly not progressing. The truth is I care a whole lot. I wanted to progress Mythic+ over raids this expansion, but I have given up. Because I don’t PuG(I can’t deal with PuGs, call it a social anxiety if you like), I rely of people being online when I am able to run Mythic+. This is not a given. This would however not be a problem if it wasn’t for how the keystone system works. You deplete my keys because I don’t play enough, and because I choose to sometimes play with people who either don’t want the timer, or are insecure, I get stuck with access to keys I feel completely overgeared for, and the result is that I get really bored. Because I am a healer, and in general a helpfull soul, I don’t want to say no everytime I am asked to heal a Mythic+, just because the key isn’t engaging enough difficuty wise.

However(I might be wrong here), I don’t exactly think that the general need for spesific paths through dungeons helps on gaining challenging enough keys for those of us who has no interest in researching “the most efficient path through the dungeon”. Maybe this isn’t any worse than it was in Legion, but it kind of does feel like it as of now. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong…

/end rant.

However, my only request is that you look at how players get access to the higher keystones, because as of now it feels like those of us who play less competative can’t get access to suitable challenges because of how the keystones work and are obtained.

you can join calm keystones, there’re a lot of people already and it would help you find people to do your keys with. you just gotta say what you’re looking for :stuck_out_tongue: if you wanna chill out or time etc.

or you can add me and we could play sometime

Thanks. I’ve been considering it, but I am not sure how much that will fix, other than making me “ride” on other people’s keys if anything. My number one issue is my irrational fear of strangers though.

The issue I am facing is that I am unable to obtain my own usefull keys(alongside most people I play with, we’re busy individuals). E.g. the one 10 I was in, was brought in by a friend who PuG, and the tank we used can be away from the game for weeks at a time. We depleted the key(expected and “wanted” deplete), and I got a 9. Well, I was happy with that 9. Problem is it took at least 3 weeks until the next time I had a chance to do a mythic, and my key ended up as a 6. Nice setback.

Just being able to freeze keys would be great, to lower the chance that players who don’t play Mythic+ often, get stuck with low keys they get to challenge from. I just find it so incredibly frustrating. I want those higher keys done. I wanna see how far we can go, but we keep getting pushed back because we aren’t active enough. The system punish you for not using the keys, and we can’t just “build keys”, for the very same reason.

doing other peoples keys are fine imo, as long as you know them that is. so you can progress together sorta thing. especially now that we cant delete keys, im gonna be doing other peoples keys a lot too, and overall i think if you do other peoples keys you can then get a new “higher level” key next week too.

feel free to message me

yup, but doubt it’s gonna happen especially now that we cant even delete keys, but if you’re down to push high keys im down too, was gonna do it originally but BfA happened and all my friends quit and i cba pugging it. just need a group that fits well and then its a matter of few hours, I wanna do +15s in time for feast of strength if I can :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks. Feel free to test me out. You’ve gained trust levels with me through these forums :joy: . I did up to a +17 in Legion, but suffered the same then as I do now, with lack of time to build proper keys on my own, and lack of people to play with(because of my fear of PuG’s).

I’ll catch you ingame though.

What is keeping you from doing m+ weekly? Family/work related?
I refuse to join solo pugs, so I too progress in m+ slowly compared to those who spam them daily.
Can also join us if you like, we’re a bunch of guys who have done keys together since bfa start, no stress kind of run. If we fail timer, we simply just learn what we can. Typical days for playing keys are either fri/mon/tuesday.
We don’t care about mistakes, usually it spices things up >D

edit: Keys are around 10, usually above

A total of what is called “real life” pretty much. Work, family, other duties. Add a bunch of people in a similar situation to the list, and stars have to align to get groups together sometimes. My lifestyle choices are obviously not a problem for me, but it doesn’t compute with the keystone system, which is what I find frustrating. Parts of the keystone system we currently have is like a completely unecessary wall to access challenges(e.g. keys dropping down one level pr. week if not used).
