Mythic+ Mentality Shift

Has anyone else noticed a mentality shift over the last two to three weeks when it comes to mid-level m+ keys?

For example, people are blitzing through +8s, +9s, and +10s without much hesitation. But for some reason, +6s are being treated like they are +13 keys or higher. It feels strangely overcautious for that level of content.

My only theory is that it might be tied to Hero track gear dropping from +6s. Maybe players are becoming more selective because they are targeting specific upgrades, especially on alts. That mindset could be spreading, leading to stricter group selection even at lower key levels.

What makes it more confusing is seeing fairly well-geared players getting declined. I am not talking about myself, but people I know on Discord who have strong mains and multiple alts, with solid RaiderIO scores to back it up. Yet they are being declined from +6s by players with, say, a 500 to 600 rating. Whether it is a mage, a monk, or even a healer, it just does not seem to add up.

It is genuinely strange to watch. I cannot quite figure out what is driving this behavior right now. Has anyone else experienced the same thing, or have any insight into why this is happening?

Well duh. Its faster to do a +6 for a specific item than a +10. Ive been spamming +6s in skyreach, windrunner spire and nexus for the trinkets and ring

People are gearing alts and skipping the champion track entirely. With catch up available, lower keys are almost obsolete at this point. Everyone is overgeared anyway.

I timed +6 with my friend in green gear last night. We plan to stay in this range until we finish gearing up. It’s not about difficulty, it’s efficiency.

And no, we didn’t invite meta people, just about anyone with experience.

ppl who play keys below +10 are more than likely new players/”solo” players who want to try m+ now that its that easy. so they invite what papa archon says about meta lists.

a couple days ago i’ve leveled my evoker. as aug i got instant invites for every Single +10 i’ve queued for (237ilvl) even tho aug is absolute dogwater for low keys

I think higher participation in m+ overall is a possible main factor, with this as one of many sub factors.

Late last season pugging a +10 on an alt was significally harder than doing a +15 with a couple of friends while pugging the rest. Because all the people with no clue what to do had finally geared themselves and somehow upped their keys to that level.

This time around, with keys being a little bit easier, and new rewards between 3k and 1%, these people are all over the place, and since +6 is where dungeons start to drop heroic gear, your theory sounds more than plaucible.

Unfortunately after those 2 words everything else was ignored

Hey, what catch-up ?

are you sure they weren’t gamers with big mains?

What do you mean

If they have 3k, we all got it week 1. That isn’t even score this season its so damn easy. It would have to be like 3.6k+ i think

Clearly you missed the point of the thread

It’s not a mentality shift. If skilled players are alting, they aren’t inviting 3k main players. This seasons “stop at 3k” guys are much worse than usual as it’s so easy. That’s why i asked about your friends.

Since we now have easy access to tier, everyone is alting. I suggested those 500-600 rio guys are alts whose mains aren’t showing yet

The accolade gear

But that is random. You can’t choose slot.

Oh trust me, I’m well aware. Still a way to get some gear if you just dinged.

People queuing for +6 are probably optimizing loot by stacking the same armor type

In other words: I ignored the message of post just so I still have some time to complain.

Alright, it seems that you might suffer from a very common ailment called selective reading. When I want to have an actual conversation on the forums and engage in a back-and-forth with people who agree or disagree, it is normally done in a coherent way, with thought behind the things people say. When people start using phrases like “well, duh” and “fam,” or when they cannot put together a properly constructed sentence using appropriate words, why should I give them the time of day when they do not put the same level of effort into what they are trying to express?

It is basic common sense and simple manners if you want to take part in a real dialogue. That is why I said you seem to suffer from selective reading. But that is the way it is. If people want to complain, they can complain. I will read it as long as it is coherent and not written by someone who does not put any effort into what they do.

Everyone has the ability to use words and put them together. Everyone has some form of education. If they do not want to put at least some effort into the things they type on the forums, then they should stick to Reddit. That is my personal opinion.

I think there are multiple reasons. Hero gear is one. But also hero crests. Anyone who pretty much instantly goes to +10s will have a significant lack of hero crests sooner rather than later.

One easy way to get them is from Delves. Another way is to do lower keys, with the bonus of still getting hero items as well. So list a low Windrunner, or Academy, and you still get flooded with 2.8-3k rated players…

Yeah I never thought about the crests as my old main was fully done with hero crests last week xD

But that does makes sense in that regard.

You’re dismissing the reply because of tone, not because it’s wrong. That’s basically the selective reading you’re talking about.

Think it has always been that way as soon as the less geard or less m+ people are the majority doing 6+ and so, always enjoyed +12s more than lower keys bc people in lower ones think they are doing a +14 and I’d rather actually go do that than deal with the drama of their +6 lol
