Been playing wow a long while now. As our guild grew older priorities change. We still love some raiding and mythic+. Our biggest challange is the kid affix. We would love the ability to let the leader call a pause vote. All vote yes and the entire run freezes. We tend to crying babies, todlers that need a midnight potty, old people bio break(im old and got ibs) while other get fresh drinks, snacks. All back unpause and continue like nothing happened. I think cs go has something in tourneys.
It can be a guildrun option only or limit the amount of vote calls by the leader so it cant be spammed. People can still leave the group and should be ported out.
Now total keys and evenings are wasted. Gametime is rare and expensive. We already run mainly guildruns to not bother other people but being 30mins deep into a run only to need to afk and not time it feels harsh.
With this option we would be more flexible and able to include and mix our rooster without the risk.
Can also be used for when your cat is on fire, mom needs yelling, accepting the food delivery, rethink your life choices etc.
welcome to the forums where people will say the same thing under every post ââif you canât do it then donât do itââ but yea, the pause option could be useful.
also the answer to every feedback is ââit will be abusedââ like who cares if weâll be having more fun time . itâs not your job to care about that let blizzard handle that. this mindset is the reason why m+ is not going in a positive direction.
Then why are we posting it on the Discussion forums to be discussed, rather than put into the In-game feedback to go directly to the Devs as a suggestion?
I donât necessarily think itâs a bad idea. But I have played this game enough to know there are parts of the Community who would just abuse it for advantage.
The idea of an M+ dungeon is that you have say 30minutes to complete a challenge, you have some sort of plan of what youâre going to do in advance, and you have to react in real time to any challenges that come up.
A pause button is an opportunity to stop every pull and talk tactics etc⌠if you did that without a Pause button the Timer would just run out.
If itâs that important that you need to take a break for whatever reason, just donât join groups who care about timing keys. Youâll still get loot at the end of the run, and vault out of it, and if youâre are under 40% over time youâll still earn rating.
here comes the ââthen donât joinââ
you guys donât even let things to be a discussion just shut down people with these 2 lines.
ââit will be abusedââ
ââthen donât do itââ
You guys just canât take feedback. Iâm not against you, Iâm trying to give you a reasonable solution.
I didnât say âdonât do M+â.
I said that there are groups that want to time keys and want to do it at a pace. If you need to take regular breaks, maybe those groups are not for you. Some kid in another country doesnât care that your Kid is crying in the other room. They just want to get their dungeon finished quickly so they can get into the next one.
However, if you have other friends who have similar circumstances, then you are still able to do M+ and gain rewards from doing so without a pause button.
However the kid in another country would find away to abuse that pause button.
Unfortunately, doing it at a competitive level and looking to gain competitive rewards, requires a little more commitment.
People who say, it will be abused, are probably talking about themselves.
Now that doesnât mean this IS something to be abused, but thereâs always people who get a doorbell, emergency phonecall, and in my case, Iâd take all the IRL stuff over a game.
So when I do, people need to accept the consequences.
And that has nothing to do with commitment, weâre talking about things that can happen IRL, unplanned things.
Thing is, groups absolutely can be held to ransom for a smoke break: âIâm going for a ciggie, back in 5â - you wonât vote to NOT pause it and instead struggle through on 4 players. Youâll pause it and wait because you lose more of the timer by not acceding to the personâs demand for a break.
Meanwhile going afk will be a troll move for pugs in particular, because youâll wait however long in the vague hope that person will actually come back, not knowing if they really intend to. Itâs bad enough when people leave without warning, but to have them first afk for 30 minutes while youâre hanging on, then finally disconnect?
Sorry but a timer will only make the experience worse for the majority of players.
I do sympathise with actual things beyond your control cutting into your play time, but thereâs far too many people who will just choose not to control the things they could have done if they bothered, but would rather it be your problem.
No, no really
People are horrible, maybe you wonât abuse it, maybe I wonât abuse it, but for every good boi, you will find ten other who woul abuse it like no tomorrow
Thats why we canât have nice things
Players - and people in general - are vile
Iâd be rather interested in a m+ without timer, where you just go higher and higher, no depletes. If you need 5h to do it, fine. You finished, you can go to the next level. The goal would be to reach the absolute limit of what you can do and the meta might be interestingâŚ
But that would be more of a fun mode to derp around though
Yes
Thats why they are the most âvulnerableâ of all
They have the most to lose
Anyone from the team could hold him/her âhostageâ - make the vote, pause while I smoke, have a chat wiht my friend or you can say your timed key good bye
No keyholder would risk it and would have to obey the whims of the group - they are in a bad, vulnerable position already; enough one pitifull or spitefull member and they could lost time, consumables, keyâŚ
Not sure thatâd be the solution. Was about to time an Academy+20 yesterday, then some warrior left at the adds leading towards the last boss. He showed offline, but we all know what happened (no real DC).
Checked, and he didnât time it the same day already, guess he wasnât interested .
I have no words for people who are on one hand callous enough to abandon their group after starting a run and also try to hide the fact that they chose to leave.
People should at least own up to the fact that they have/want to leave.
Talking Tactics on every pull what game are you playing? Group up and aoe nuke it and dont stand in fire on bosses. We are already 95% fully premade groups. And calling m+ competitive is pushing it. 2k mount reward is not more then timing some 14s. We managed to do it but it took us twice as long as we would have had a pause option.
Abuse? like i said it has to be a full group vote. A limit should be in place like even once is fine. Current vote kick system in heroics is far more toxic where 3 people can screw you over with ease.
Stuff happens irl. Part of the challange? I can tell you its not fun. And yes easy to say then dont do the content. You cant plan everything in life. Having this emergency button can save 5 people the hassle of having to rerun a lower key then attempt a rerun of the same key + time spent in the broken run. Its A lot of time waisted. Pushing keys is fun on any level with any group. Timing is still fun and what we aim for.
This seems like a good way for a premade to take an emergency break. I do not know how it would work out with pugs without a voice chat to explain themselves.
To distract us from the dungeon weâre running? That would just lose time. And then get abused anyway. Imagine some troll spamming the Vote button over and over in the middle of a boss fight.
But you managed to do it, so weâre all okay :).
Sure thatâs how you play it now. But get that pause button and the ability to talk tactics and youâre game play will change.
just like if they removed the timer. You would be waiting 10 minutes between each pull for BL to Cooldown.
It does indeed. But M+ requires you to have some time to fully commit to it.
As I said previously:
Sorry but having a pause button just completely undermines the purpose of having a Timer.
