This sucks when you have no other source of gear but M+. I do not raid. Many of my friends do not, either. Nor do we intend to. With this system, I could no longer gear up an alt with friends. No thanks.
…so that prevents guilds, communities and a group from quickly gearing up an alt or a new recruit.
Say I have a group of friends, with whom I currently enjoy doing M+. We can just go in the five of us and have fun clearing it. If your ranked system prevents queuing up with a full group, then we’re forced into the unranked one with a weekly lockout. That would be awful. That means less practice, and much less to do in WoW.
Similarly, if one of the people ends up needing a break, or wants to switch chars, we can currently gear the alt/new char up pretty fast and continue our business as usual. With your system, if we can’t queue the five of us, we won’t be able to.
Likewise, if a guild needs a healer or a tank, and there’s an existing member willing to reroll, they can gear the new char up quickly, and continue raiding. With your system, if they can’t queue for ranked, they won’t be able to do that, which has the potential of halting their raid progress. That’s not good for anybody.
You kill not only boosting premades with this, but M+ guilds and communities, and friend groups too.
The idea with “choosing” key would be great, as in which dungeon.
I don’t have the best of times when I sit there with a Underrot key - but I’d love to do Kings Rest, and all Kings Rest keys that are currently looking are either extremely high levels that I don’t dare pug — or require absurd R-io scores for low keys…
OR - They aren’t up at all.
So choosing your key-dungeon would be nice, or some system aching to that.
Right now queue for N/HC is very low and I’m not sure if ilvl is worth it either. When timewalking is up that’s a different story - good exp for leveling an alt, good leveling gear and good 120 catchup gear (395 on last TW ~2 weeks ago). I suggested in another threat that they could merge normal and HC into one to have more live queue and make it scale like TW so you can queue leveling and max level no matter their gear/level ratio and everyone can benefit from the run.
That’s kind of to small steps (and it’s not a single player content).
Which would kill any fun from M+. Few hours a week and you are done, the end nothing to do. Bad run, won’t be in time? leave to not get a lockout with bad score…
So one loot piece per key level. What’s the point? Getting 10 pieces going from +1 to +10, getting 15 if you push it to +15. What if not everyone is interested or capable of running high keys. Why should he be punished with less items (aside of that they have lower ilvl)? Plus it’s complex and needs lots of explaining which for a game system is bad. And if there is 8 dungeons and every at +10 then it’s 80 guaranteed items ?
People that do Rio score or like to be good at every dungeon run/PUG every. Random keys do make it bit harder but that also prevents easy pushing of dungeons that are easy with given weekly affixes.
Your system would allow to “mastering” just one and running that one for weekly box. Rio score of a player doing one dungeon over and over is very low and doesn’t incentivize PUG invites that much (and if it’s one then you have to look for that one specific key).
When I was doing my mage alt two weeks ago most low M+ runs did not finished. People didn’t know the basic tactics etc. There is no machine algorithm that can perfectly decide if player should be punished for leaving or not. And M+ isn’t that casual content. It’s easy to fail.
Your system is a limited version of RIO. It doesn’t tell how many runs someone done (boosted or not), it also could incentivize leaving if the run isn’t in time etc.
Participating in group content doesn’t equate to personal skill directly. Clearing +15 on a healer may mean that the group was good and did not stood in fire and interrupted like clockwork and healer wasn’t stressed that much. Failing a key as healer because DPS constantly killed many small ads during bursting doesn’t mean healer is bad and should be downgraded to lower key level.
I like doing M+ for fun. I want to log in and do it. I don’t want raid lockouts for M+. Plus the loot progression isn’t that rich there. You need lot of runs to get that specific item from specific dungeon (people won’t be happy with random trinket/weapon when specific weapon or trinket is the meaningful upgrade they pursue).
What’s the definition of carry from a game numerical perspective? What’s cheating in M+ ? What if it’s a low key and ramp-up specs can’t build their DPS before things die? What if it’s ST affixes week and AoE specs are lower on the meters?
The game doesn’t need systems for the sake of having systems. The such systems require catchup systems that may or may not work, or overshadow mythic raid gear or be an arcanocrystal roulette.
In short you are suggesting que system to Mythic+, where everyone has to start from +1 and work up, one rank at the time. You complete +1, you move to +2 and so one.
Honestly, I don’t like any of this. I like how it was in old days- Normal dungeons helped your gear up to 320, after that Heroic helped your gear up to 350 and from that on you went to raids to get up to 380. It was simple, each dungeon boss dropped 2-3 pieces of gear. Now you get 1-3 pieces at the end of the run.
This is not the way at all, I fully respect the time you took to think about the subject and write your ideas, it’s fully positive to bring debate into the forums, but about your points here I’m in strong disagreement.
Part of the idea is good, but it should happen more naturally, not gating. The best way to learn is to play during the expansion launch (obviously only possible at certain short window of time). I remember playing brewmaster since launch and Mythic-0 was perfect because there was no raid gear, almost nothing beyond heroic dung gear, so mythic was full of progress groups, doing a 0 was a nice slow process of learning how to deal with the trash because there was almost no room for mistakes or surprises. Actually even heroic at that point was punishing with mistakes and getting the iLvl for finder was not that easy.
I think they should bring the proving grounds back, a mythic+ trainer version of it. As a quick example (I’m bad at this) imagine MOTHER would let you go into some scenario where you can summon actual trashpacks from BfA mythic dungeons. This would allow newbs to atune for the mythic dungeons with proper experience. Then with some new achievements for this testing grounds the people that don’t wanna go into Rio stats would have something to look up to if they want to know if some other player knows some basics.
Add the posibility of inspecting mythic plus season from other players. This is something that I can’t understand why it’s not in the game already. Mythic+ has been here for years now, and if I’m not wrong since the beginning of ranked pvp you could inspect any player rank and activity. Why is this feature not available for mythic+ season? They are totally aware that the current state of pvp is far from good, so the more reason to add such a feature (I’d dare say it shouldn’t be that hard?)
I really think the lower part of mythic dungeon runners would improve and have some means to deal with what they consider a too elitist community if they had the possibility to check in-game stats and achievements.
Rework and bring back proving grounds!! We don’t need more gating to put away players even further, we need atunement and training features to bring them in.
I would actually be really happy to be able to go to a dungeon and turn on something like ‘test-run’ where you choose the M+ level and just go. Without loot at the end of course. And this can get further advanced where you can enable-disable packs, or something. We are way too often theoricrafting before (and after a run), but can never try something.
Hate to say this but in my humble opinion all these kind of suggestions come from people not equipped or experienced in M+.
M+ should simply stay as is. Organised and managed by the community, by finding/creating group.
Automating it in a dung finder style would allow for much more cheats and boosts and just cause somebody timed a key on an easy week or cause the other 4 were good, doesnt qualify him for anything… neither the poor guy you votekicked because you want the game to change to adapt to your issues.
