Subject: Concerns About Mythic+ Progression, Boosting, and Current Loot Systems
Dear Blizzard Team,
I have been a long-time World of Warcraft player, but recently I have reached the point where I am seriously considering quitting the game. I want to explain why, because I believe several current systems are putting Mythic+ players at a major disadvantage.
One of my biggest frustrations is the weekly loot system. For the past four weeks I have not received a single meaningful upgrade from the Great Vault. This makes progression feel completely dependent on luck rather than effort or performance.
As a Mythic+ focused player, it currently feels like we are at a significant disadvantage compared to players who can participate in organized Mythic raids with guild groups. Not everyone has the time to commit to long scheduled raid nights. Personally, I cannot spend three or more hours sitting in a raid multiple nights a week, which effectively means Mythic raid loot is simply not a realistic option for me.
Trying to raid through pug groups has also been extremely frustrating. The quality and consistency of these groups is often too unreliable for Mythic content, which means many players are effectively locked out of that progression path.
Another serious issue is the boosting economy. Right now, players can simply buy gold and pay for raid boosts. Some people farm gold for this, but others just buy tokens. For example, for around 20 euros you can obtain a large amount of gold depending on the market. Then players can pay well over a million gold for Mythic raid boosts where groups simply carry them through bosses.
This results in players obtaining very high item levels without actually playing at the level required for that content. These players then apply to high Mythic+ keys and get invited purely because of their item level, even if their actual performance or experience does not match it. Meanwhile, players who actively run Mythic+ content and try to progress naturally are often overlooked.
This creates a very frustrating environment for Mythic+ players who rely on pug groups. Many players in the Mythic+ pug community know exactly what I am talking about because they encounter this situation regularly.
There is also another system that currently makes very little sense for Mythic+ players: the return of the bonus loot system. In its current form, this system feels completely designed for Mythic raid players. As a Mythic+ player I essentially cannot use it in any meaningful way. Using bonus loot on a +16 key will not suddenly give meaningful Mythic raid-level rewards, so the system has no real value for dungeon-focused players.
Because of this, the bonus loot system feels pointless for Mythic+ players. If it is going to exist, it should either work in Mythic+ content as well or be exchangeable for something useful, such as crests, currency, or progress toward gear upgrades. Right now it simply reinforces the feeling that many systems are designed primarily around raiding.
A possible solution would be introducing a vendor system for Mythic+ players. For example, players could exchange accumulated Mythic crests or weekly resources for specific Mythic-level gear pieces. This would create a system where effort and time invested in Mythic+ content leads to reliable progression instead of relying purely on RNG.
At the moment, it feels like Mythic+ players are being pushed out of meaningful endgame progression unless they raid Mythic with an organized guild or participate in the boosting economy. That is not a healthy direction for the game.
I would also genuinely like to know whether other players feel the same way about this situation. Many people who regularly pug Mythic+ content seem to share these frustrations.
I hope the development team takes these concerns seriously, because systems like these risk pushing dedicated dungeon-focused players away from the game.
Sincerely,
A frustrated but long-time World of Warcraft player
