Mythic + Trinket Farming and lack of bad luck protection

Hi there,

My situation is not a unique one, and something I hear quite a few gripes about. Trying to specifically target items from mythic plus (namely trinkets) is proving to be the absolute bane of my life, and just a wholly unentertaining way of obtaining gear.

I am thankful that we have multiple pathways to gear now with mythic plus gear being relevant alongside raid loot, and to be clear I think the current gear system as a whole is great. My issue is the fact that trinkets are so impactful paired with the fact that you can go 30+ runs dry of the same dungeon without a sniff at the item you need just feels like a really unintuitive way to go about obtaining a single item, and it’s really quite deflating.

It took me over 30 runs to get a branch on my hunter, and I’m now close to 30 runs with no branch on my mage (I have twice looted the music box and at the same ilvl it is 7k ST dps behind, so I cannot just settle for the music box at the level of content I like to play). Targeting the same dungeon more than 30 times for a single piece of loot isn’t fun for me, especially with no end in sight to that grind.

My proposal would be something of the following:

  • After a character has ran a specific dungeon more than 30 times a token is looted which is soulbound to that character that would allow you to lock into which specific item you will loot the next time you are awarded loot from that specific instance. The grind is still there, but at least theres a vision of something being obtained at the end of it.

  • Similar to the above but instead, implementing some kind of option to lock in your mythic+ rewards in the vault to a specific dungeon after x amount of runs have been completed, still not guaranteeing the item, but if you fill all 3 slots you can give yourself a much better chance at least.

Keen to hear other peoples thoughts.
