[N-RP - Adventure & Trade] The Meridian Edict 🦊 A Vulpera-Founded Guild For All

Hi all! We have a new forum post, as this one got locked! Please refer to this one from now on!

On the noticeboards & posts of various key cities of Azeroth -- Dalaran, Orgrimmar, the Crossroads, and Booty Bay -- calligraphically-written parchments would find themselves attached there, often pinned by a black-and-white furred Vulpera, dressed in representative purple and gold vestments…

The Parchment, visible in-character to anyone curious...

Copy & paste: https://i.imgur.com/XOmkEyb.png -- it is our IC poster!

Who are we? A short introductory story!

It is often said that the last time something truly exists is the last time someone remembers it. Time itself, however, moves forward with relentless momentum, steering the ebb and flow of culture & civilisation, of peace & conflict, of achievement & failure.

We, however, wish to remember the world & what was before – who persevered and who collapsed; who fought and who negotiated – details that we, ourselves, can complete the greater histories of the world with. To catalogue, understand, and study Azeroth, to learn what the lessons of the past might offer for our present & future, and to learn how to protect our collective home from any harm that might come its way, no matter its origin & bring peace and harmony wherever we may go.

As Vulpera, we have persevered for many generations in our homeland – our resourcefulness and cleverness, along with our curious & social nature, has assisted us in our acts of self-preservation. Now that our kind has adapted to & embraced the wide world of Azeroth, stretching past our homely dunes, we are able and capable – more than ever before – of weaving our own path of meaning, and of understanding what and who we can truly be.

And though we may be strong on our own, in our goals and ambitions, we will always be stronger together – and it is together that we will show the world what the strength of camaraderie and optimism can achieve.

This is the Meridian Edict – the ambition of the Vulpera and their friends who wish to make a positive difference in the world, both alongside their kin and the many denizens of Azeroth. And not dissimilarly to the spirit of a Caravan – to travel together, to help each other as family, and to decipher the mysteries & cultures that have been swept under the vagaries of time. From whichever corner of the world you are, all are welcome, whether fellow kin or other like-minded curious fellows!

Together, we can foster peace, harmony, and a haven for all curious minds who yearn for the opportunity to travel, research, and help those in need, be it through skill of combat, crafting, healing, or research.

Warm sands, fellow Sandbrethren, adventurers, and denizens of Azeroth!

The Meridian Edict is a recently-started & developing guild embodying traditional Vulperan virtues of curiosity, exploration, and kinship, while also extending these tenets towards all like-minded people of Azeroth for a place to call home, in the name of understanding, bettering, and protecting the world we inhabit! Though not a Caravan guild per se, we nonetheless embody similar values and principles, and we are indeed founded by Vulpera and with a Vulperan theme & also accepting of any other race wishing to join us. We are seeking to extensively travel the world, document its mysteries and help others in need wherever we’re able!

We wish to revitalise and recalcify the positive values of roleplay, and create a long-term, cosy and quality-driven community of RPers, where the Vulperan values of camaraderie, harmony, teamwork, and curiosity take the highest priority and are shared among all of us equally. And, of course, fun times for all! So, if you enjoy RP with both depth and a more positive note & with a particular social aspect, we might be for you!

So, what is the Meridian Edict about?

We’re a developing research & trade group with a common shared to explore, catalogue, aid and protect the world wherever possible, with the help of everyone in the Edict, whether they are adventurers, fighters, scholars, healers or crafters. Ultimately, what we really want is to form a meaningful and uniquely positive community rooted in quality & good times, with engaging stories & encouragement of personal development amongst each others’ characters.

Our RP would focus on travelling the world and engaging in diverse activities during our events, such as finding & researching artefacts, lost histories, exploring time-forgotten ruins, and dealing with local threats of various natures, to name a few! We create campaigns & plots that seek to be tailored for the participants, in order to give everyone a chance to develop & grow with us and get to use their skills, whether they relate to adventure, crafts, or research! We make use of TRP3 Extended to create lots of interesting and fun items that others can play around with, which is where a big part of the artefact research idea comes in, as well.

The Solstice Bazaar is our travelling shop, visiting key cities & attending festivals on a regular rotation! This is a good place for characters who are more civilian-oriented and/or wish to focus on their crafts & artisan endeavours with us.

As of currently, our members can specialise into either Pathfinders and/or Artisans, depending on each character’s goals! As Pathfinders, the characters are signed up for the main adventures we would go on – for now, this includes any speciality pertaining to adventure, including scholarly and combat-oriented; as Artisans, the characters are registered with the Solstice Bazaar (and, of course, with the Edict!), as either or both crafters and vendors of the goods we or they make. We will happily feature Artisans on our shop page if they have wares of their own!

In summary, we want to create a qualitative domain of creative and engaging RP stories aimed for both Vulpera and non-Vulpera alike, where we work together as a team & community to create and progress stories for our enjoyment, and where everyone will get a chance to shine & develop. We want everyone to feel truly part of and included in the community we are trying to shape up.

Who would be a good fit?

Though the guild has its foundation around Vulperan themes, any race is welcome, both Alliance and Horde! The nature of the guild is akin an academic, adventurous travelling group. If you are the type of person who enjoys collaborating on stories and working with us towards fun & meaningful experiences, then regardless of whether your character is a civilian, researcher or seasoned adventurer, there will most likely be a place for you!

Rules of Conduct

We wish to be a safe, friendly haven for everyone who joins, and thus we ask for civility & maturity from our members. We do not and will never tolerate racism, homophobia, sexism, or any other forms of discrimination on the basis of our natures & beliefs. We also will not tolerate OOC drama & we expect everyone to be mature and common-sensed whenever disagreements occur, and ultimately for all of us to work together towards our goals, IC and OOC.

Is this a Caravan guild?

Not quite, although one could see us perhaps akin to a modern take on a Caravan, where we still embody the Vulperan spirit of kinship, curiosity, and cooperation, and where mutual support during our travels is always paramount – simply extended to everyone!

What level of experience do I need?

Any level of experience is okay! We are ourselves experienced roleplayers and our guild is friendly to beginners & we’ll make sure to help you out if you’re just starting out with RP. The right attitude, to us, matters far more than the level of expertise with RP.

So, what races can join, specifically?

Any! Even though we are Vulpera-based, we accept any races willing to work with us on our goals. The only exceptions are particularly powerful & exotic non-playable races (such as Dragons, Liches, and so on.)

What about classes such as Warlocks or Death Knights? Can they join?

Yes! What matters to us the most is -how- a character uses their power. Do they use it to alleviate suffering, to do good in the world or in otherwise-positive & constructive ways? Then they definitely could join. The only exception would be particularly powerful characters, due to balancing reasons.

What do you NOT accept?

We do not accept particularly powerful & exotic characters, evil-aligned characters, or characters with a particular focus on the ERP side of things. We -do- allow creative liberties when it comes to character design, so a degree of lore-bending (to mean, something which may be, for example, a more creative/unique design that can nonetheless be explained with the existing lore) is generally acceptable, but lore-breaking is definitely not.

Can loyalists to the factions join the guild?

Unfortunately, no, as we are a neutral guild and we therefore cannot accept members who are staunch supporters of either the Alliance or the Horde.

How is activity planned?

We generally have two events per week, along with any other social RP that might happen in between! The two events we will always have listed are: One adventure/plot event on Saturdays, one Solstice Bazaar event (which can be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays). We also allow other members to host activity & events, just message us first and we can plan from there!

What kinds of themes can I expect?

Our themes essentially revolve around mystery, intrigue, research, and of course, exploration! We will travel a lot through Azeroth’s corners, be it to retrieve a lost artefact from the hands of malicious users, document a small uncharted island, or establish a new connection with some locals! Anything goes, in the spirit of a travelling group of adventurers, and the nature of a plot or campaign will ideally be decided likewise through feedback from our members about their preferences and wishes.

Ultimately, a major goal of this is also to facilitate interpersonal & individual character development – as would naturally happen in a team!

Does the guild have an IC headquarters?

We do! We use a small settlement in Val’sharah, ICly called the Elanaar Arboretum, as our more permanent quarters to serve as a meeting & resting point in between expeditions.

Do you have any specific time investment requirements?

No, as long as we see you at least once or twice a week, then it's all good!

What system are you using for things like combat and so on?

We are currently using a mainly-freestyle combat system, as we want to reward creative freedom when it comes to the actions players take during events. We do feature a dice-rolling system which is used for things such as perception checks, difficulty checks or (mis)fortune rolls, where applicable. The roll system is also sometimes used for other miscellaneous purposes.

Thank you for reading, and we hope to see you around Azeroth!

Hi all! I am very happy to say that we are back in full force, and I am very grateful to everyone who’s considered & joined our guild, and has been patient with our rebuilding.

We will be starting a RP expedition plot very soon, with the purpose of finding out more about a specific Nerubian caste in Northrend. There will be spiders, relics, and mystery!

If you are interested in joining, now would be a great time to do so! That being said, we will, of course, still be able to take anyone along after this plot begins. We hope to see you around!

Hi all! I am once again happy to say that our expedition has been successful & is now concluded! A party will be held to celebrate our newfound success. :tada:

Once again, thank you to everyone who has participated & assisted, both within and outside the guild, as we’ve had additional help for our journey from non-members, as well!

We will have a small break for this week, and then, next week, we will start a new plot, this time oriented around a long-lost Titan facility mystery that will require some puzzle solving and difficult decisions… :dvd: :sparkles: :ringer_planet:

If you are interested, this week is a particularly good time to meet us & tag along! See you around!

Hello everyone!

I am very happy to announce that we have now started our first major long-term campaign, :fire:The Flame of Erantex :fire:!

This campaign revolves around assisting the peoples of a yet-uncharted island known as Erantex, featuring political intrigue, old Clan rivalries and theological & philosophical conflicts, mysterious schemes and conspiracies shaped by the former ruling elite of the island, lots of new culture to explore and document, and as the name suggests - a lot of fire magic! :fire:

The Meridian Edict will work closely together to ensure that they themselves do not get caught up on the tedious threads that define the tumultuous landscape of this island; this is to say, this is a plot that has many, many branching paths and possibilities of outcome, and it is up to us to steer them and figure out what we can do to help the newly-discovered society and the spirits of flame within!

If you wish to take part in the campaign and join us along for it, then now is a great time to do so, as we have only just set foot on the island and we have yet to find our ground!

See you around!

Morning everyone! The journey to Erantex continues and the Edict has a plan how to help people there - but whether (and how) it works, only time and combined effort of the Edict people will tell!

In addition to that and regular Solstice Bazaar hours The Meridian Edict will be present at the Fireside Gathering Recruitment Faire with a new game. If you would like to meet and know us better, it could be a good time to do so - but you can also poke us any time if you would like to learn more about us or join!

See you around and have a good day!
