[N-RP] The Pledge. A Community of Heroes

EDIT: Concept is on pause.

What is The Pledge?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

“The Pledge is a desire to do right in the world. A promise. A sworn duty that no matter who you are, where you come from or whom stands next to you - You are willing to put aside all prejudices, old hatreds and wants for the good of the world. The innocent, the meek, the downtrodden. Those who have suffered time and time again at the hands of evil. Those are our charge, our duty, our future.”

The Pledge is a neutral RP initiative that intends to use the world of Azeroth as a whole for exploration, adventure and conflict against the darkness that threatens us all. Horde, Alliance and even races not of such are welcome to answer the call. This is primarily a good aligned community, dedicated to answering the call where the Champions of Azeroth cannot. A cut above adventurers, but not the most powerful heroes of the world.

It matters little who you are, where you come from or what skills and magics you employ - only that you are willing and capable to fight for the good of the world.

Who can join The Pledge?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

“You might be Horde, you might be Alliance. You might even be a party aligned with neither. None of this matters. Only the ability to work with those from all walks of life is important. Whatever darkness, or light you hold dear; the only true thing that matters is the desire to save those who cannot save themselves.”

Anyone can feasibly join The Pledge. Anyone who is morally aligned to fighting the good fight. Whether you are an errant Paladin wandering the world, or a warlock who wields dark magics to smite evil; both are welcome so long as they can work together. Within The Pledge, you will find people from all walks of life; and it is important to consider whether your character can deal with such.

You may find yourself standing next to an Ogre whom has been gifted with intelligence and kindness, or a Gnoll whom just wants to help the world. Ensure you are ready for such when considering joining The Pledge. There is no place for in-fighting here.

What can I expect from The Pledge? Why are you not using an in-game guild?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The main goal here is to create a space for my own DMing. Finding like-minded people who wish to explore the world of Azeroth, the zones, the raids and use them as a backdrop to run ongoing campaigns and stories.

I have elected to use the In-Game Community system rather than a guild as there are many Roleplayer’s out there who either are in raid guilds, social guilds or other roleplaying guilds they do not wish to leave. I do not think it is fair they are excluded when Discord is an excellent tool to facilitate and organise Roleplay.

While there may be social RP from time to time, think of The Pledge as a community of on-call heroes. Going about their daily lives until The Herald puts out the call for aid. These call for aids will be mini-campaigns to begin with. How exactly these will look, time will tell.

What now? How do I join?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The Discord is setup, as well as the in-game community. I have a combat system already written out, which is easy to pick up and based around d20; it will be instantly familiar to those who have used similar in the past. A series of events and initial storyline is planned and ready to go.

This will be somewhat slow recruitment. I want to take the time to ensure those interested are a good fit for the concept and understand what it is about. I have spent a month preparing the groundwork and foundation of the Community and wish to see it done correctly.
