Nameplates are bugged?

Out in the world, when you target an enemy player, you could see the nameplate from a big distance. Now it seems like the distance at which you can see the nameplate (when targeting the enemy player) has been heavily reduced. Has anyone else noticed that?

Check your settings, I noticed when beta testing there is a setting for distance for nameplates. Not sure if it’s in retail too.

I don’t see hp/mana numbers on frames.

Me neither. I could see them earlier today though. It could be a coincidence but it seems they stopped showing up after I went to try the plungerstorm thing.

Can’t find the option anywhere

Sorry then it must have been a cata beta thing. My bad :frowning:

Np

This is really annoying, cuz now the nameplates won’t show up in big distance when we’re targetting an enemy. I tried to turn off all addons and didn’t solve anything. The nameplates basically disappear like you’re not targeting the enemy once they go beyond 60 yards

There seem to be all sorts of issues since Plunderstorm patch with all sorts of things.

No harm in doing a bug report for now.

You could try one of the old console commands.

/console nameplateMaxDistance 41

The issue is not with the nameplate of enemies around me. Those have the correct values. The issue is when I target, let’s say, an enemy player out in the world. Previously I’d see their nameplate regardless of the distance they have from me (as long as I was targetting them), and would only disappear if they “dispawned” out of being too far away. Now it doesn’t matter if I target them or not, the nameplate will disappear after 60yards.

I’ll try doing a BG to check if this is happening in instanced content

Being reported on US forums too:

Well, it was too easy to click on EFC portrait and see his nameplate at any distance. Very convenient but a bit unfair :–)

settings - interface - display - status text - numeric value

What is unfair in that? The other players can do that too.

Ok slightly embarrassing. All i have to do is to re-select what was already selected.

Edit: Annnnnnd it’s gone. Playing plunderstorm keeps removing it.

It’s literally how the game has worked since forever.

Blizzard, fix it, it’s always worked like this in pvp, untill the last patch. We were able to see enemy players’ nameplates when we targeted them in BGs from any distance, now we can’t.

Nah I liked it that when clicked some from bge I could see where his running about, I hope they put it back

It is not just open world, it happens to me in PvP too. I physically have to target the player to see their nameplates. Anyone around them is nameless on my screen and I have no idea how to change it back.

I reported the nameplate bugs under “Customer Support” 3 days ago and no reaction yet.
It was reported together with the issues of the Servicie and Trade channels and probably was overlooked because of it.
