Necro reworked?

So this seems nice in pve, how would it work in pvp ?

I dont want to change my covenant again and farm anima upgrades and all of renown  but what did blizz expected by loxking covenant swaping? Now ppl are just frustrated. First i landed in venthyr and i switched to NF but I heared hunt ability is getting nerfed

It’s really bad. The 20% extra dmg from the empowered soul cannot make up for the diffference in damage between necro and kyrian. In fact I’d say necro is just a more complicated and worse kyrian decree which does 350% AP damage aoe.

And for ST with the upcoming apparent heavy nerf to night fae DHs are going back to venthyr for raiding and m+, or kyrian for m+.

Erm, what? There’s an AoE component before the Demon’s Soul. If it was just that I would agree with you, however, when the demon dies it explodes for quite significant AoE damage and THEN you get the damage increase from the DS for 15 seconds. Then you can combine it with the SB power that gives you increased main stat and since it’s on a percentage it’s going to scale exponentially.

And there’s no saying that you have to kill the demon at the moment of spawn. I can see some interesting combos with Fel Bombardment where you use Immo Aura to build stacks while you avoid stuff, then blow it up with a Glaive Throw after going back to your main target and getting the bonus, then you’ll also get the DS, and since it’s on a PPM the cooldown should start at the moment of spawning rather than at the moment of death.

The demon explodes for 175% of your AP in damage to enemies around it. The demon targets you from a random 360 directional spawn direction around you.

You get the bonus damage after the demon spawns. There is also no practical use or a DPS increase in any way to combine fel bombardment with a covenant skill.

It is also a 2 minute long cooldown, a very large cooldown for what it offers.

In comparison, Elysian Decrees is a targeted, large area of effect delayed ground effect which inflicts 350% of AP in damage to every enemy up to 5 (in 9.0.5) and reduced damage above that. It additionally has a 1 minute cooldown.

For Fodder to the flame to be effective, not only must it deal more than 700% of your AP in damage NOT split between 5 enemies within the 2 minute period (this means that the total amount of the initial damage of 175% + the 30% dmg increase from the demon soul must exceed the 700% pure damage done by Elysian Decree) but the demon MUST spawn in such a way that it’s area of effect damage is inflicted on all enemies.

At the moment, the maximum benefit of these covenant effects are (in real damage) the following up to 5 targets:

Elysian Decree: 1750% AP damage split between 5 enemies, targeted delayed ground explosion effect.

Fodder To The Flame: 875% AP damage split between 5 enemies, generated by a randomly spawned demon that explodes on death. Requires 2 global cooldowns to execute and grants 30% increased damage done for 20 seconds.

I keep seeing this but the hunt isnt going to get nerfed. Thats old news just a mistake or so i understood that at least from other people.

Ah, you’re talking about the current version. The PTR version is the one the opening post is talking about and that’s.

  • Passive
  • Seems to have a 45-second CD or 1,33 PPM
  • Spawns right next to you.
  • Instantly dies when hit by Glaive Throw.
  • Explodes when dying for quite a high amount of damage it seems.
  • Leaves behind a “normal” Demon Soul when dying.
  • Has synergy with a Soulbind power that gives +3% main-stat for 10 seconds and gives the four closest allies +2% main-stat.

With all those things it’s leagues away from the Live version. And the first iteration sounds stupidly OP, which is good. It’s better if something is too OP and then you shave off until it fits than it’s too UP because adding things until it fits is a lot harder.

Hmm, 45s CD for a 20s 30% dmg increase buff sounds too good to be true tbh.

Pve wise it sounds better than ventyr for sure… don’t know if I would switch for pvp… it is 45 sec with 100% uptime, also the hunt is just to good for burst

Well, I would use the term “OP AF,” so a lot more diplomatic. And I’m okay with the first iteration being OP AF. “Rather the sausage that’s too long than the one that’s too short as you can easily shorten the one that’s too long, it’s a lot harder to lengthen the one that’s too short.”

My guess is that with a CD like that it’ll be normal DS instead of an Empowered one, so only a 15-sec damage increase. I would also guess that the final version has the PPM reduced to just 1, since haste and all that, and the synergy is removed because that’s WAY too good.
