Necrolord Ability - In need of changes

I’ve tried a few times to get used to the Necrolord ability - Fodder to the Flame - and it just feels too clunky to use most of the time.

I’ve set up my Plater addon to show the Condemned Demon’s nameplate as much larger and a separate colour, which helps a little, but I still feel the ability could use some more love.

Things that could make the ability much more appealing would be:

    1. Simply making it an actual ability instead of a passive, let us choose when to spawn the demon.
    1. Allow us to macro target the demon, mouse-over is sometimes clunky and not convenient on big pulls.
    1. Let our other abilities deal “Fatal damage” to the demon. Sometimes you miss with Throw Glaive or it doesn’t kill the demon in one shot, leaving you tanking/kiting the demon for 5 more seconds.
    1. Lower the damage the demon deals to you, I’ve been killed a few times by the demon when stunned.
    1. Remove the “Invulnerability” when the demon spawns. Why is it immune to our damage for 2 seconds when it spawns? I’ve wasted quite a few Throw Glaives due to it being immune and have to tank/kite the demon until the cooldown is back up.
    1. If keeping the ability as a passive, just cut out the demon completely. Make our characters have a chance to deal the explosion and spawn the Demon Soul.

I feel any of these changes would improve the ability in a good way, it just feels so clunky at the moment. What changes would you guys like to see done to Fodder to the Flame?

I feel like one or these two alone would be sufficient to making Necrolord DH less of a hassle and actually make it into a great power. Is there any actual competitive gameplay behind not only making the covenant power RNG, but also random-named?

Look, I get themes and it’s cool to be this war-inclined Demon Hunter who uses imprisoned Demons to blow up as a way of mocking and making use of their thematic prey, but that’s about where this covenant power seems to draw from.

Or am I missing something here?

No thx, this change means they’ll put it on a 2 min cd instead of proccing 2-3 times per minute.

I think they can make it strong and active ability, it does not need to be on 2min it can be 4m cd so it lines up with meta, it should be something along the lines: mark the target with fiery brand that makes them take 20% more dmg from Dh, also every atack on it explodes some dmg to nearby 5 targets including branded one+ you still have chance to spawn demon during it. It is 4min cd with 25sec duration for example not OP.

Would render it completely trash for pvp.

It’s not just a damage buff, the healing it provides is nothing to scoff at.

You don’t realize the reason many of us switched from NF to necro is because we wanted an ability with more uptime than The Hunt.
