Necromancer specialization for the warlock (or mage) class?

Apparently a caster necromancer class might never be added to WoW. But what about adding a new talent spec for warlocks (or mages) that have necromancy talents and skills?

Or make some kind of customization/skin/whatever for warlocks (and other classes) to appear as a necromancer instead of a demon summoner. So skeletons instead of imps etc.

Does anyone think any of this would be interesting?
Adding other exotic specs to other classes would be cool too. Any ideas for the other classes?

Also where do one post new feature suggestions? :stuck_out_tongue:

for necromancy to work it would have to be a class for the horde like the undead. it´s such an evil practice and a sane paladin would have no choice but to go wipe any dark users out.

Burn the heretic. Kill the mutant. Purge the unclean.

Not personally a fan of this necromancer class idea, seeing as we have DKs, but I’m always open to adding more skele options into the game.

Warlocks, Demon Hunters, Deathknights.

OT: They’d have to rework unholy Deathknight entirely for a necromancer spec / class to become viable but i’m not against it

And yet we have DKs on both factions. As an aestethic we already have necromancers, its called unholy deatg knight. What we want though is that aestethic but as a caster and not a melee.

yes, evil, unnatural. now I’m inspired to get a paladin so I can be the holy knight here.

My head cannon for my paladin is thay she is zealous fanatic. You can be evil as anything.

Evil Paladins? Huh, smelling some Scarlet Crusade and bit of Lightforged energy here.

I’m not too sure about Nocromancers as a class, but more and nicely incormporated into the Death Knight class would be a nice treatmeant for Death Knights.

Warlocks deals with demons not undead.

As necromancer you have the deathknight class.

I think there’s an old developer video where Blizzard talks about Wrath of the Lich King and how they considered different possible classes - Lich, Necromancer, Runemaster, Deathknight, Blood Knight, and so on.
And in Blizzard’s “concentrated coolness” fashion, they just took the conceptual ideas of each and baked them into the Deathknight class. And that’s why the class has an element of a Runemaster with its runes, and why it has frost skills from the Lich idea, undead stuff belonging to a Necromancer, blood stuff, and so on. The Deathknight is all of that in one class concept.

So it’s hard to see a Necromancer specialization happening, because Blizzard kind of already used it.

Caster spec for DK. Class skin for warlock as well as a dark ranger class skin for hunter.

Mages at most could get purple ice and fire. Maybe turn the fire orbs for mage into floating skulls, and turn ice-spear into bone-spear.

First wave of warlocks created the first wave of necromancers.

Warlocks through kil’jaeden meddling → Necrolytes → DK gen 1/2, Ner’Zhul is kinda messy with him being a shaman → Lich king through more kil’jaeden meddling → Necromancer → DK gen 3/4

We have faced against both Fel and Void paladins.

Necromancer? Warlock It s an summoner and use dark magic. If he Is also an necromancer It would out of context.

We have already DK too

Yeah, unfortunately necro overlap a tad much with both warlock and DK already. And their inclusion would inevitably be a 3rd intrusion on the warlock’s kit.

Old lore was that warlocks (Gul’dan) created DKs. And we do have some slivers of warlocks using death magic still, stuff like collecting souls and the mortal coil spell to name a few, but yeah our class fantasy has moved away from that and more towards the demons.

Imagine a quest where (kinda like the green flame quest) demonology warlocks make a decision to abandon working with demons and instead become necromancers, e.g. they find a special tome.

They could have all the same spells, just re-do the visuals and spell names. Imps are skeletons, tyrant is Lich, dreadstalkers are vampires etc. Then create some alternative mogs. It would all be a pretty simple fix that would scratch that necro itch in the absence of a true class.

Wouldn’t that fit more to affliction warlocks?

Pretty sure they are officially and offically officially, in- and outside of the legion, called Feladins and Voidadins. Evil Paladins use light. :dracthyr_nod:

Old lore? Isn’t this still the case?
Also the necromancy part of warlocks was never that big in warlock class fantasy since Vanilla

necromancer should be a 4th caster based DK spec. could be really nice to see.

where you wield a staff and use int gear.

We just need spec or class skins…a necromancer or drust summoner skin for warlocks, a fel knight skin for paladins or warriors, lightforged skins for hunters, warriors, rogues…etc etc. I mean you could do some pretty cool stuff by just changing some colors of abilities. Imagine an elemental shaman with green fire spells and red lightning. Just need spec or class skins!

Unholy DK’s are your necromancer class. Blizzard just needs to improve on it to expand it from just summoning minions (don’t get me started on Blizzard’s laziness, or more likely, complete and utter apathy, on THAT front ever since WotLK was launched) and casting diseases.

Instead of simple lazy reskinning of existing races and calling them “Allied races” or “new races” I’d rather see them work on the existing classes and fleshing them out more.

But that’s not gonna happen, and neither is this necromancer. Or Bard.
