Necromancer

Ive been playing WoW for a long time and for each new expansion ive hoped for a new class, The Necromancer… But ive never gotten one :stuck_out_tongue: i wonder if we will every see a necro class in wow but i still hope so… I know we got the DK and the warlock ( both been my mains for a long time) that one can argue is technically a ‘‘necromancer’’ but this is what i would call a necromancer light :stuck_out_tongue: a real necromancer raises the dead ( Skeletons , ghouls , hellhounds etc) i don’t feel that fantasy with the DK or the warlock… altho i like and enjoy those classes very much , i miss that undead that has a skeleton archer or zombie type pet and uses dark magic to send a bolt of unholy wrath in mobs faces xD This topic prolly been up plenty times but what do you think about it? any other classes you feel need to be in the game?

To even begin a Necromancer class they would have to butcher both Warlock and Unholy DK classes and Warlocks already took a battering when they introduced Demon Hunters so I’m sorry but it’s very unlikely you’ll ever see a necromancer in WoW.

That’s actually not that far of a suggestion considering probably the only real melee ability we use is Festering Strike as Unholy gets most benefit from Scourge Strike melee talented into Clawing Shadow being ranged.

I can’t really think of anything important Unholy brings as a melee so morphing Unholy into a Necromancer spec for the Death Knight would be more feasible than ripping apart two classes to make one with at least 2 specs.

Demo warlock and uhdk are already for this, 3rd for same theme would be unnecesary. Would like see something new if something is added like tinkerer or something :dracthyr_a1:

This would get me to play more. Tho one of the hero specs sounds fun. The four hourse men one. Frost and blood right ?

Yup. At most necromancer should just be a class skin for warlocks and caster spec for DK.

Heck unholy is almost a caster spec as it is with only one ability that has to be used in melee and auto attacks. (May not have played any TWW yet so dunno about it’s current state, talking about how it’s been the last 3 or so years.)

Like would it be that difficulty to make that last skill a hard-cast and pack the melee attack bonuses and triggers into it?

The fun they could have had with class skins. Make it something you gotta unlock like tome of the lost legion for green fire. Like grimoire of Kel’Thuzad, unlocks undead/unholy themed stuff for warlocks, mages, hunters and so on.

Frost and Unholy will be prioritizing the Four Horsemen I believe Blood will be more focused on the San’Layn.

I am looking very much forward to the mounted combat on a deathcharger because using the mounted combat hour long buff from the legion class hall was great fun.

It’s pretty much been that way since they revamped the Unholy spec way back and made Clawing Shadow a viable talent. Used correctly with Death and Decay (and to an extent Defile even though it’s worthless) you can more or less treat Unholy as a complete range class, as all you are really doing is building up some pestilent sores, popping them with clawing shadows and firing off death coils waiting on your minion cooldowns. If they made a proc builder like Festering Strike a range then you have your necromancer. The only problem I see is of course the blood aspect of the Necromancer if we use the Diablo model because that would require taking abilities from Blood spec to give to unholy which would lead to unnecessary ability bloat unless some Unholy abilities were either transferred to Blood or shared over all specs.

Frost however has been greatly improved with the introduction of dual wielding Oblieration so there’s no need to mess around with that for now.

This! How I look at it. If such a class came to be. Aspects of both of the Warlocks and Death Knights are to be taken (away) from them to form said class. And I doubt they’ll do such.

I have zero interest in a necromancer class, honestly.

The most appealing idea to me is a Tinker class. I also think it would make for the most role diverse class; I can see it as a tank, healer and dps.

I’d be surprised if it ever got added tbh. Doesn’t fit that well in the lore and things would have to be stretched to do so even if it would be cool

It fits in lore; but it would have to be limited to gnomes and goblins probably.
And since Blizzard seems to like limiting the amount of races a new class can be, based on their last 2, I think it could make sense. :blush:

I still envision the class basically being a ‘mech suit’ with a goblin or gnome inside of it (double character creation like worgen). And the suit would have 3 ‘modes’.
Tank mode, healing mode and dps mode.
