You do know this is my forum post and I’m fully aware they would be individual specs but you could easily make them individual in their own right. Hell you could even have a necro healer that cures by cursing the enemies and filtering their life force to friendlies.
You could have a necro tank that manipulates enemies and minions a sort of permanent mind control of such.
Also dk only get their powers from runes not from death and disease its self unlike a necromancer.
DK are not necromancers directly. we are rune abusing dragon using corpse manipulating blood drinking warriors.
Necromancers are directly connected to death hell they would be a physical browsamdi.
If next exp will be base on shadowlands and death then adding tinker class there would be like adding monk in wotlk insted of dk.
I love idea of death connected spellcaster but maybe not pet oriented thats why I take Lich over Necro (but I would be happy as hell to get any from this two to play).
I imagine tank spec as caster that take something like spectral form what gives caster big resist on damage, he tount enemys by hunting them etc.
Dps spec gives alot ideas like shadow/death magick its big field here.
With heal I like idea:
Necromancer spec for DK.
Necromancer skin for warlock replacing minions with undead, demon stuff with death-blood stuff.
Dark Ranger skin for hunters, also letting them tame some undead minions.
Personally I dont like this reskin idea. Dk is dk, warlock is warlock non of them is necromancer.
Game is made base on Warcraft universe and there (I will keep on w3), necromancer/licz was one thing, dk was other thing and warlock (dread lord) was not same as necro.
I wish that blizz will keep it in this way, but time will show how it will be.
Blood magic, shadow magic and necromacy, diseases.
Shadow magic, sacrifices, curses, life,soul,mana drain. Replace the minions with undead, and fel fire with shadow fire.
Both of them are on the edge of necromancer, DK just need a spec that is caster themed, meanwhile Warlock could relatively at ease be translated to necro. Which would probably be for the best too since blizzard has shown that they won’t hesitate to strip skills from one class and add it to another, rather than leaving it for both classes. Like Death Coil and Meta.
DK eventually became a mixture of all the original undead heroes. Dread Lord for Blood, Lich for Frost and Death Knight for unholy. And then Lich is the empowered version of a necromancer.
Seeing how we still havent dealt with Gorak Tul, implies that shadowlands is probably just going to be 8.3. What comes after we have no idea yet, save for the new mounts like the Flying fox and Whimsical dragon. Which tends to be indicators of the next theme as seen with the riddler’s mind worm, mystic rune sabre.
You are right that dk and warlock share some elements but mage share some elements with shaman, paladin share some elements with priest etc.
I see this in a differend way, Death Coil and Meta should never apear in warlock skills, problem there was that blizz wanted to put too many icon skills from 3 hero classes (from w3) in one class that didnt had clear design, and then with making new classes:
“Oh this is dk icon skill, oh this is dh icon skill”.
Anyway in case of warlock, Death Coil was replaced Mortal Coil so not much change there.
I was reading something (not sure if true) that blizz wanted to put necro insted of warlock in vanilla but it happend that they ended with warlock.
You are right bizz add aspect of dread lord (vampiric aura), dk skills (death coil, death pact, animate dead), and aspect of lich (death and decay), there is also banshee spell from w3, necro from diablo 2 etc.
Still I would love to see Lich/necro hero class, not some reskin shortcut, because in same way warlock could be reskin mage… it just sounds lazy and lame for me.
Sure, we dont know what will be in future of WoW, time will show, its just nice to share ideas.
