Necrotic is an example of a failed game design

i timed Spires 13 with BDK tank - he had absolutely no problem stayin alive at whooping 224 itlv (thats his itlv now - he likely had lower itlv then ) . you can check yourself.

if he was 245 he coudl easily run 17-18s .

and its not like 250 dps carried him - heal is 230 now , i was like 226 i think , mage is 231 and highest is/was boomy at 238 . they were all likely 2-3 itlv lower when i did it .

All affixes are trash and a waste of dev time, they are not interesting to play at all. Necrotic is one of the worst ones, agree. But all of them are stupid, it was a bad idea to do them.

Same for the timer, just in case.

so which affixes are interesting to play ?

fort + volcanic + storming done by 3 range comps ?

because thats probably afixx that most woudl choose as “fun to do”

Exactly. People mostly are only “fine” with affixes that either don’t affect their role or are easy to handle. Then people might even say that these affixes are “interesting”. In reality, they are not interesting and the proof of that is this - whenever they become less easy to handle, eg, in a particular fight / instance, or in a particular season due to a combo with the seasonal affix, then people suddenly stop saying that they are “interesting” and are starting to talk about them being annoying and maybe even broken. The truth is, all affixes are annoying point blank. Whenever someone calls them “interesting” this is mostly because they are personally not being annoyed by that particular affix enough
 yet.

Affixes are bad as means to make things seem more varied. The variance that they add has ample negative connotations. They are a bad feature.

No affixes are only fine when they don’t mess with gameplay like necrotic does.
I want to play my class, not run around doing nothing just not get hit.

It’s a massive difference.

All affixes mess with gameplay, just to different extents. Quaking forces casters to stop casting. Grievous forces the use of single-target heals. Etc. None of these mechanics are fun when they hit you. They are only tolerable when they don’t hit you enough or at all.

No quaking is the only one that come close as a concept, and only for casters.
And it’s impact is generally mostly negligible.
Grievous makes you play differenty, but you’re still playing. You’re still healing, you just can’t spam aoe heals.

Kiting instead is you just running around and goodbye rotation and actual tanking. It’s a fine strategy sometimes, but running entire dungeons like this it’s not fun in any way shape or form.

Look, I understand. My main is a tank. I agree necrotic is complete trash. I agree the combination of the current week is insane and should be removed. I am just saying that all affixes are bad, they are simply a bad idea.

They’re not, otherwise every dungeon will be a race to who can pull bigger and that’s it.

They surely can have more variety, there are too many affixes designed to stop you from playing rather than dealing with things. I mean, look at tbc timewalking, a lot of time people gets obliterated because of old debuffs applied that class cannot deal with anymore.

But you made me curious and I looked at what you mean by “gigahigh keys”. Are you talking about this character you are posting on? If so, by “gigahigh” you mean several 21 with not even all 20? ROFL. If so, my main cannot get into the same keys as you, indeed, but only because you are Alliance. ))

I only play tanks, except for the occasional run as Havoc, but this week is just not fun even if I play with a full group of friends. Normally I end up doing lots of keys just for the sake of playing but this week I only did the bare minimum for vault. Even completely skipped my low geared paladin and monk that I normally join low key pugs with, just because I don’t wanna deal with the potential problems these affixes give.

Is this week doable? Yes. Is it fun in any way? No.

I play tanks to actually tank mobs, not spend most of my time running away. Druid and DH felt ok this week. While it’s no problem to kite on DK it’s just really boring to not do anything except putting down DnD and chains of ice until stuff dies

Sure, you’re free to have opinions - but necrotic is quite clearly one of the worst affixes. It is a fact that few people enjoy it and pretty much every high-end player wants it nerfed.

What level he did is of irrelevant. The OP has a point. I totally stopped tanking dungeons this week after i did my 10 and i didn’t even bother doing 19s. I did all 10 dungeon on level 15. This says enough how sh!t is this week’s affix combinations.

I agree with everything Tahen wrote. Also i don’t mind if Necrotic is in combination with Tyranical. But with Fortified hell no. Add to that sanguine and here you go half the tanks won’t even touch M+

Its because the tanking learning curve is a bit weird, until they start pushing really high keys bad gameplay does not really punish tanks.

Mechanic? LOL ima tank i’ll just Munch it!
Wasting a defensive cd? Pfft dont even need those.
Dealing damage? I have agro and i’m not dying my gameplay is flawless.

And then suddenly you got tanks having to deal with dying from missplays or unable to keep agro, but dps brain memes are more funny so none ever mentions this.
