As a third class to focus on in DF i want a DoT Caster im torn between Shadow Priest and Affli Lock what are the pros and cons of these 2?
How about moonkin?
Idk. Affli seems like the better designed shadow, right? Plus you have 2 other DPS specs as lock.
I’ll keep maining shadow, but it’s probably a better-the-devil-that-you-know thing.
Ignore the guy above, obv nevered tried.
SP > Affli in every aspect.
Flow
Dmg
Sustain
Tankiness
Reactiveness
AOE
takes 20% of the effort for 120% dmg
How does Ele compare to these 2?
Go for the Warlock Affliction Spec. They are a safer time investment than shadow priest. Morons will get shadow nerfed into the ground because they can’t even kill or line of sight a mindbender or sit on the easiest trained spec in the game. Affliction is a much bigger threat than shadow, dealing more damage and putting more pressure on you. People will overlook you since your defences are amazing, and they will always be relevant because it’s a warlock, even when nerfed. Shadow had a moment in the sun but it won’t last and they are not even op, people don’t know how to play against mindbender below 2k rating and shadow will become crap within one balancing patch for the rest of the expansion, like usual.
Anyone sayibg pick aff is mad shadow sure has had a rough time but aff has been the worst specc in the game pretty consistently in pve.
Generally demo/destro are rhe 2 that shine always with that class.
Shadow takes less effort than Affli? What the hell are you smoking? Have you seen the Shadow-Rotation? You almost need a PHD for that one.
I have a PhD and still struggle with the rotation
My experience of current SP is that it can have a nice burst set up. Affli feels like a truer dot class. Devouring Plague, the spender, can be specced into providing good upfront damage and is also boosted by Dark Ascension - so you have a dot doing good upfront damage in a burst window.
Affli is more tanky but for me SP is more fun. Main issue is, if you don’t like SP you’re stuck with a healer, if you don’t like affli you have 2 other dps specs.
Is its rotation rly that manic? This isnt a troll just to say haha im not questioning just wondering.
As someone potientally looking at playing a new class, i havent tried any other classes since DF changes so im unsure to how other classes are playing
Well, it’s probably because I’m an average player:)
I also play ele, arcane and destro. It is more buttons than those and a bit more thought……and maybe a little more meaningful choices at the end talents (e.g. picking tendril procs , buffed mindbender, or apparations procs requires different rotations etc.
I mean honestly its not mega hard, just a bit harder:)
Shadow is defintly one im considering haha ,
I mained one uptil i quit at the start of SL, thought id go for something different but starting to slightly regret the choice as evoker feeld really underdone lol
Having only one DPS spec vs 2 healers isn’t really a negative going from Evoker
I will say some nice things while we are at it, and you didn’t specify whether you’d be doing pvp, m+ or raid. SP has nice and relevant dispels for a couple of the dungeons - mass dispel and disease. While you don’t have a cool movement thing you can basically constantly sprint. There’s a lot of different ways to deal damage, the issue sort of is you can’t exactly choose, you need to use most of them. But it does offer some flexibility that I don’t see everywhere. You can off-heal to your heart’s content.
Calling me out, ay? You’d be right. I am confused, a warlock player telling me SP is better. And telling me SP has good flow has me seriously worried for Affliction.
SP isn’t bad but it has some design handicaps atm, well covered in plenty of threads here.
If you heal, or want to heal, then go priest. Despite peoples criticisms and the druid meta holy is actually in a nice spot at the mo play in my opinion. The talents synergise nicely together.
If you have no interest in healing and just want to dps, I think warlock is a better option as you’re more likely to have a spec thats viable and not in the bin at any one itme. I’ve levelled both and to be honest shadow feels quite clunky to play at times. Not to say it cant pump with the recent buffs, but the overall design could use tweaking. Ultimately though levelling doesnt take long at all anymore, just give both a try.
SP is better than aff
Imo though, this does not outweigh the fact that aff is a warlock spec and therefore has access to demo and destro when aff isn’t great.
