As the title states I decided to roll back into Classic to try SoD. I played 2019 classic up until ICC.
I’m looking for a class that is a breeze to level and that will have no problem getting into groups at max level.
I’m torn between priest and hunter. I really like to heal at max level but leveling can be a drag as priest. Hunter on the other hand seems like a no brainer for open world content but I fear they are over-represented at endgame.
Someone on reddit mentioned priests in SoD are a blast to level b/c they get all their most used runes at 8, but when I asked to elaborate there was no reply. Guides state they still use wands to kill mobs.
Problem with Priest right now is that you’re either a god healer or a waste of space. So if you want to be a Shadow Priests or some such nonsense - prepare for hard times.
Not really a rotation. Keep homonculi up, dot stuff, wand stuff, watch stuff melt. While running from place to place I’d just put dots on mobs and let the homonculi kill them.
How inconvenient is the glyph system for priests? I just read about it and it seems confusing that i need to go and get a buff or pray in front of another priest just to be able to get glyphs?
Mage was most fun and is truly powerful when you are willing to sweat a bit. With all the new runes and 25 cap it’s a perfect example of glass cannon. It can as well face tank 130mobs if you know what you are doing, but that’s a rare skill.
Rogue was surprisingly good at doing a lot of content solo. Felt more dynamic than mage, no water breaks. Slow but easy leveling.
Priest is powerful but boring so far.
Druid is straight up OP class, no mana cost damage spells, self heals, etc. etc.
If I would got to do it all again I would go for a mage and then a druid. These feel powerful enough to provide for other alts.
Definitely Priest then. Easier to get into groups, people (me) will literally beg you to join if you run Homunculi rune. Cannot confirm if true or false but apparently Hunters struggle to get into groups sometimes because so many people play Hunter.
I recently started a Priest alt and I must say leveling was a breeze, overpulled a lot & never got close to being in trouble.
unless there´s a thing that needs to be dispelled I don´t think priest will stay the most wanted healer, maybe the least wanted even besides 1 homuncoli+stam bot.
druid with wrath spam+starsurge who throws out a wild growth here and there or a mage that just does arcane rotation will become more wanted to clear faster.
Not just that, but their behavior.
Since they can get away with everything, they don’t just help tanking, but merrily pull and generally mess. Which is fine because they can get away with it, but not much fun playing alongside them.
Deveon, consider also what you want to do in the game in general. While it’s getting late for P1 raiding, you are in time for P2 and you can have the priest for flexibility, or hunter for making money. On a technical level there is little difference between dot + wand and hunter’s sting + bows, although for me the bowman is more immersive.
If you want casting rotation, mage is the name of the game, or maybe a balance druid / shaman.
You can start level some character 1-10 but don’t focus if you are still on decision phase.
Wait for phase2 runes.
If they release bladestorm rune go warrior, best pve, best pvp, espcially for horde 0 loot challange. What do oyu want more?
Edit: Some people will tell you it is bad alone in open world. Who cares open world.
Raid and dungeon you have healer behind, bg you will play in premade, if not, no matter what class you are playing you will lose. In premade you will have slave healer behind. World pvp stealth class thing plus no reward
