Hello
I decided to try healer and have priest at level 70 so i switched to holy priest and i tryed to download addons like healbot, vudho, clique and grid2
But i dont understand how to use them or what to use, i like the clique but i cant understand how to use it even after watching videos
I marked as friendly targets but when i try heal my self sometimes the heal go to another person not me, also i have to mouseover my character picture on player frame to mouseover heal. About grid2 ans healbot i couldnt find any profiles, can someone help me to understand how this addons work and how to find profiles for grid2 and healbot?
Youtube usually has 10000 guides on how to set it up so maybe you can find another one that explains more? Personally i dont use those at all⦠Good luck!
Fellow healer here. I personally use healbot. Iāve used it since 2008 so I canāt imagine healing without it, though clique does the same thing really. I believe the same in built in wow these days, but for your understanding Iāll explain what it does.
It allows a custom set of bars of the hp of your party/raid that you can click to heal. You donāt have to manually target the party member for the heal to land, so it saves you time. For example I use left click as flash heal, right click as Heal (not often used as Hpriest this season), shift-right click Prayer of Mending, middle click (scroll button) as prayer of healing.
I set it up and pair of 3: single clicks of left, right and mid are the casts that I use the most, then shift+ one of those 3 and finally a few alt- one of those 3. After a few dungeons it becomes muscle memory, trust me. I switched from Hpal to Hpriest last season and it took me a week before I had it all in my fingers, and I heal up to keystone 20, which is decent this season.
Clique does the same thing so no need to have both clique and healbot.
When you open healbot settings you can see āspellsā, thats where you bind your mouse buttons to your desired spells. ābarsā is where you change the bars to your liking.
Hi, Iāve used Healbot since Wrath of the Lich King and thatās what Iāll try to explain how to use it below, although a lot of other addons share works roughly the same.
Configuring the addon
-
The most basic and crucial settings you can make are of course what spells you use for each click. Go into your Healbot settings by clicking the āoptionsā bar on your Healbot UI or by clicking your minimap button. Click the āSpellsā section. Then in that category each spell corresponds to a click with your mouseās various buttons. You can also and should assign spells to your shift, ctrl and I recommend to also assign spells to your mouseās thumb buttons which are described as button 4 & 5 in Healbot (mouses from Razer has these, one manufacturer among many). Simply click each spell bar and select which spell you would like for each click by either the drop-down menu of default spells, or type the spellās name into each spellbar. Personally I set up my own spells so that I know exactly which button does what, rather than using someone elseās profile which can be confusing.
-
Next you might also want to configure the actual bars, you might want to make them either smaller or bigger according to your own taste. This is configured in Skins->Frames->Bars, and there you can among other settings change the height and width of each bar that represents a player, plus change how many bars there are per row. You can also disable headers if you find that annoying, itās located in Skins->Frames->Headers, then uncheck the āShow headersā box.
-
Configuring the debuff section is also important so that the addon shows dispellable debuffs for your class, itās located in āDebuffsā section in your settings menu. At the very first top drop-down menu selection choose the dispel spell that corresponds to your class.
-
You can also configure the addon to send out messages whenever you resurrect them, found in Skins->Chat. Click where or to who you would like to send the message to and thatās it. You can also click ānotify for resurrection onlyā, and possibly add more spells to the bar in that category, I havenāt experimented there so I canāt say.
-
Another feature that helps a lot is sorting each player by role in your Healbot UI, where tanks end up on top, then healers, then the dps, which I find crucial to perform well with healing. Itās found in Skins->Frames->Bars->Sort, then click the Main sort drop-down menu and select āRoleā.
These are just my basic tips on how to configure the addon so that you can start healing properly with the addon, Iām sure there are other settings as well which you can use to configure and personalize the addon further but I havenāt tried that. Hope this helps!
You can just shadow unit frame name plates and then have mouse over macro for heals. Mouse overs you can find on icy veins, for example.
You donāt even need those, you can just use mouseover and normal frames from blizzard. Just use the ones how it looks in raid
I swear by Healbot as well. There are so many options for the frames, and I also really like the transparency feature for showing whoās out of range and the emergency bar for those times of panic.
Start really simple: just set up your spells and debuffs, and then practice healing a group or yourself with the mouse-over frame. The sheer amount of information you see straight away in the options menu is a bit overwhelming; just ignore it and get the basics down.
Once you feel comfortable healing with Healbot, expand from there and explore the many, many settings to make your profile unique to you.
Personally I use vuhdo. If you click the Spells tab, itāll show you a menu with the different mouse buttons. The first will be without modifier, you can add more with control, shift and alt. Fill the first one with spells that are important, Flash Heal, Serenity, Prayer of Mending, Dispel and such. No idea what kind of mouse you have, I have one with two thumb buttons which is nice. Scroll up and down, and click scroll count as buttons too. And then, once youāve added the spells to the different mouse buttons, simply click the appropriate mouse button on the vuhdo frames and the person you want to heal.
When I heal on a class Iām not yet comfy with, I usually put group/raid heals on the action bar, so that Iām visually reminded I have these or I will forget and then later add them in vuhdo under a modifier.
I usually do some test runs in epic bgās to see whether Iām happy with the binds, and to see how it all works. Once you get used to it, it feels very fluid and intuitive.
Personally i just use keybinds to heal without such add ons like vudho or clique. I have tried it last expansion again. And the time you need to set all of it up properly costs more time than just learning to play your class with keybinds
Clique is just healing with keybinds, except you target by mouseover unitframes.
But still I have tried it, in the end getting such add ons set up is just annoying and takes too long
Might as well just copy paste some macros and mouse over heals with the standard wow interface
Clique to me is literally 30 seconds, since you type /clique, click on the bind button which opens your spell book. And then you just mouseover the spells you want to keybind and press the button you want to use for it. Done. It is super easy.
That and changing size and color and what not. clique was blocking so much of my screen. And sometimes it just didnt work when i used it for some skills
just having some macros like
#showtooltip
/cast [@player] Angelic Feather
#showtooltip Holy Word: Serenity
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead]Holy Word: Serenity
works better than add ons like that for me
start with healbot itās way easier than mouseovers etc. for a newbie if u find it not enough then you can move to macros.
What is clique blocking? It has nothing on my screen It are to me only keybinds on mouseover on unitframes
It has nothing in your UI. Also no color changes of anything.
Well my screen is pretty small so if you got a big add on screen on there you quickly will block stuff out
What add you talk about? Clique has only a config interface. Nothing else. It changes or adds nothing to your UI.
I would start with Clique + blizzard raid frames. When you get comfortable with it, start adding other things. Trying to work with everything at once will just overwhelm you.
Bindings with Clique only work on some sort of interface, not on player characters themselves, you can go to Options->Addons->Clique->Blizzard Frame Options to see what it applies to.
Another addon I recommend is BigDebuffs - it makes icons of important debuffs bigger so you know what is worth dispelling - this function doesnāt require any setup. You can then type /bigdebuffs to bring up options, and on the top of the first āpageā called āRaid Framesā, under a toggle āHide Other Debuffsā is a toggle āIncrease Maximum Buffsā which increases the number of visible buffs on your frames from 3 to 6 which should cover everything you need.
blizzard standard raid ui as party setup is good enough. it highlights things to dispel, class colors, healthbars etc.
there is really no need anymore for a healer addon for frames
target frames are a different story though
I main heal on top 100 eu .
my suggestion is to not overcomplicate things with addons.
enable the raid frames for group of blizz UI and make them large enough and centered enough to easily have them available. I position them left-center.
download bigdebuffs and omnicd for it.
use one weakaura to track externals and personals on team members.
use on weakaura to track cooldown of enemy mobs on nameplates.
thats it
I ve only used Healbot when was playing WOT LK ,stopped playing for like 12 years and came back now ,and to my surprise,I see that u can customise your raid frames similar to how HB looks like ,the main diff is that I now heal with my keyboard and some side buttons of the mouse and I need to click on the frame and then the Key ,with HB u are more mouse dependable in the way you just right click ,left click and then shift click left ,right and so on ,never healed a raid or something bigger than 5 ppl but I guess things are similar ,in the end might end up with HB installed also, who knows
