Need help with card please :)

This is my pc but I really need a new card… I can 5 box wow on it with the settings one high, the rest low… but have been 3 boxing for ages now.

i7-7700K 4.2GHz Kaby Lake, RX 480 8192MB GDDR5, 32gig ram

I want to 3 box Shadowlands at some point - 1 high, 2 low.

What’s the cheapest card I can go for to get a decent upgrade? I only play wow and steam games (which my card is currently fine for)

Would it not be worth waiting to see if it works the same in Shadowlands first?

Wait for mid range 3000 series

To some extent you cant test on PTR if no beta access. There is a chance the new zones are noticeably more complex than the BfA ones but like, kind of doubt they pushed it that much.

Used RTX 2070, 1080 Ti, maybe some options for a panic sell of 2070S/2080. And at some point there will be sale on the new 2070S, leftover 2080 etc. From AMD side there may be options for RX 5700 XT, especially after Navi 2 announcement in bit more than a month. Waiting for new cards is also an option depending on budget and expected performance level.

For streaming+gaming+boxing you may also need more than 4 cores.

Wait for the 3070 release, your computer can probably handle SL fine even with multiple instances.
After 3070 release, you can either get a 3070 if you’re lucky or at least current options will drop in price considerably.

I would see if it still works before buying a new one.

Since you can choose which video card the game uses, why not split it if you really want a new one, then you don’t have to spend so much.

Doesn’t the RX480 use a lot of power? I doubt a PSU bought without having multiple GPUs in mind would handle that.

Might remember it wrong though

It’s a mainsteam card, average of 164W according to TomsHardware. RTX 3080 does more than double.

I meant steam games… not streaming

I just want a cheap upgrade really… and didn’t want to buy Shadowlands first then find I do need a new card after.

Thanks all… I can wait longer as the expac isn’t out just yet.

This can be anything from Solitaire to Cyberpunk

RX480 can run it fine, although without all high settings depending on resolution… and if you buy RX 5000 GPU you get Shadowlands for free (if the promo is still up):

Although due to Ampere and Navi 2 launches current RX prices are kind of questionable unless they change soon.

I’m currently playing Wolcen Lords of Mayhen upscaled 2560x1440 with all settings maxed apart from shadows

Can I just ask don’t I need to be in Shadowlands to see the changes to graphics?

I was really surprised to see that WoW needs a new card as it’s always been friendly to people that have a terrible pc.

Well times change but wow still can be run with mid range graphics but time of low end pc running wow is over logic here is that as technology moves forward so does Blizzard adapt to it.

If you want it cheap, maybe a GTX1070 8gb card, i use one, not for boxxing but runs all games on max on 4k 60fps. still a very powerful card imo

How much did you pay for yours? £350 quid aint cheap lol - well not in the middle of a second covid crisis and xmas around the corner. Could get a ps5 for that.

It was a about 370 pound when i still got it back then, here a new one would be 300 pound now.

I’m not sure where to shop tbh, amazon says 350 atm.

dont know if they do international though but heres a link for the south african store.
