So, I’m trying to buy the Time Lord’s mantle from the Valor Quartermaster up in the tower at Orgrimmar. However, I seem to be too smooth brained to figure out how to actually buy it.
It says I need the ‘Shoulders of the Corrupted Vanquisher’, so I got it in the caverns of time’s Dragon Soul raid (10-man normal) from Hagara the Stormbinder. Now I just got in Orgrimmar and am trying to buy the mantle …but it doesn’t work.
My addon displays the route:
ATT > D&R > Cata > Dragon Soul > LFR > Common Boss Drop.
While mine is:
ATT > D&R > Cata > Dragon Soul > N > Hagara the Stormbinder.
Is the problem that I have got the item in normal instead of LFR or not? If it’s not the case, can I even get the item? (I want it for transmog)

I got into such a confused state myself recently trying to pick up a particular piece of ICC gear for an alt that I really began to have delusions of conspiracy.

Yes, the tokens like ‘Shoulders of the Corrupted Vanquisher’ are specific to each difficulty. Each difficulty gives a different piece - similar, but from a different variant of the same set. So the version you got from Normal will yield a shoulder piece, but it will be the piece from the Normal set for the raid.
If you want the Raid Finder version,
you have to get it from Hagara in LFR.
If you want the Normal version, you kill Hagara on Normal.
BTW, I thought all DS tokens now convert when you right-click them, without need for a vendor? Maybe I’m misremembering? Different raids, different treatments.
You can do DS on LFR. At the entrance there is a dragon(?) who will offer you an LFR run if you talk to them.
Basically each difficulty offers a different recolor and they all (un)conveniently have the same name. Choose a difficulty based on the color you want.
Yes you can convert them non need to go to the vendor. Can confirm as someone who grinded Firelands for the legendary and Dragon Soul in hopes of getting a mount (currently not trying and still reluctant to go back there).

Do I need to wait for the raid reset to do the LFR version or can I immediately jump into it without waiting?
