Needing on off spec items

With the changes coming to loot, can we please change the rules for players needing on off spec items?

Losing a roll on an item I need as a huge upgrade to a healer for example because it’s there ‘off spec’ which they have no record of on any system makes me wanna rage quit, it’s dumb.

Just change your loot spec to healer, and need it.

Then it will be considered as your main spec need.

You’re listing the problem i have… players entering as a healer and needing on dps items in raid.

Of a healer can need dps item. but there are 2 situations:

  • if the healer’s loot spec is healer, then he will never win a dps item against someone with dps loot spec that needs it.

  • if the healer’s loot spec is dps, then he has equally chance against others with dps loot spec, because both needs are considered “mainspec” need.

In group loot, your “mainspec” = “loot spec”

So… If I want to play my druid as DPS but queue in LFR and mythics as healer for faster invites I am not allowed to roll for my actual main spec because I volunteered as a healer?

I do get your frustration, but as someone who does this regularly I can tell you: you either have a healer with need on DPS items or you don’t have a healer. You might forget, that some hybrids just join as tank/heal for the sake of getting invites, while they’d actually play DPS but don’t want to wait 2 hours for an invite.

Healers aren’t like “lol, I denied this guy his trinket” and as Beki said: the loot spec has to be set manually, so he is doing this on purpose because he is farming for his DPS spec.
I mean if he’d have his loot spec set to DPS while having personal loot, would you still complain? It’s his loot, it’s a random group.

Ofc it’s frustrating not to get the stuff but in the end it’s RNG and if you want to reason with people you should get into a static. If such things happened there, that would be a whole different story.

If blizz doesn’t allow to roll for inactive speccs I won’t heal/tank with any class that I want to play as DPS anymore. So congrats that would remove one tank/healer from the pool and add one more DPS. Exactly what we need.

Yeah, that can be the case, but some people just change their loot spec willy-nilly so they can roll on as much loot as possible. If you clear the full raid and someone has the same loot spec from start to finish, that’s fine though.

If I would go into LFR as a tank I would swap my loot spec around as well, depending on whether I use my off-specs or not. If I heal in dungeons often I could use those healer trinkets.

Specific trinkets from the raid are pretty rare to drop, so if I want it for an off-spec I use regularly I will swap to it for the chance of getting it.

No ill will behind it. I just need that loot as much as the others.

If you que for a raid as Healer, you should only be able to need on healer items. Healers have to gear to so I’m sure finding healers will not be an issue… may take longer, but not an issue.

The raid is generally 60-70% dps so the competition on some items is already pretty heavy. Having a healer change there loot spec so they can increase the number of items they can roll on is dumb.

I agree with you on mythic dungeons, the loot is specific anyway so who cares, set your spec. In raids however, it’s dumb.

With healers and tanks needing on dps items & some players needing on items for tmog… it’s so tough to get loot atm.

If blizz doesn’t allow to roll for inactive speccs, good… I’m glad you won’t enter the raid as a healer/tank to need on dps gear. Like i said, it would just take a slight bit longer to form a group… You mention ‘Gz lol tanks/healers won’t exist’ but you forget most groups consist of 2 tank and 2/3 healers…

Whenever i’ve formed groups in the past… dps is always the last spots to fill.

Must be the german realm pool, but we are mostly waiting for tanks and healers.
