Nefarian Lore

ive always been fascinated with Nefarian the eldest son of neltharion aka deathwing, now i wonder how powerful he was in brutal strenght? he was huge almost dragon aspect size could he put up a good fight against a dragon aspect in his prime ?

Not really, because dragon aspects hold more power than just normal dragons, especially when they still had the majority of their powers. Only another dragon aspect could threaten one of their kind, normal dragons or even Nefarian don’t really stand a fair chance there.

Now it is kind of impossible to guess how powerful Nefarian really was, considering we don’t know if he was more powerful resurrected compared to when he hadn’t died. I don’t think he had any old gods buffing him yet, so that’s why I place him below the dragon aspects. A powerful dragon for sure, but like I said, unless he is buffed by an external source he would not be as powerful as the dragon aspects are. And both times he was defeated just by the heroes, no extra lore characters were present or anything.

Weaker than the molten core Ragnaros as he waited until we took him down to rule over Blackrock Mountain. At least before being resurrected in cata by the twilight hammer (guess they followed the orders of Nzoth too, Ctun and Yog were sleeping back then)

Still an adult black dragon so a pretty strong dude. But nowhere near the aspects level of power as their strength mostly came from the titans (well until they wasted it on deathwing)

The aspects were the biggest and strongest dragons in Azeroth when the titans picked them up. So no matter how big nefarian was he was still smaller than his daddy.

i know he cant beat a dragon aspect but i was wondering if he could put up a fight or would he be 1 shotted ^^

I recall reading somewhere than he and Onyxia repopulated the flight pre-vanilla.

But I think they retconned that along with all of the other questionable pieces of lore.

Interesting topic! Nefarian is by far one of my favourite dragons and villains in WoW!

Personally, I think that he’d be able to put up a fight against an aspect, even though he’d lose in the end. He does have his Shadowflame breath, which he can use to reanimate the dead and is deadlier than normal flame, so that would also give him somewhat of a boost.

But honestly, he was never about brute force that much. He was the brain. The schemer. The mad genius of the black dragonflight. The charismatic and silver-tongued Lord of Blackrock. And his sass was more legendary than the legendary cloak!

So in terms of brute strength, he’s formidable, but still below the level of an aspect, but in terms of brains, he’s deadly!

His biggest weakness was his hubris and his ego, which were bigger than the Blackrock Mountain.
