Negative Emotes Changed and Removed

Wow. This is getting sad. No free speech, because you might use words suggestively, butt I don’t know, why do we need this in a pg13 game.

The only thing this is going to change is that some other emotes are going to take the spot as the “rude” or “sexy” emotes players will spam.

In the next scandal they’re going to have to remove /golfclap and /drool…

/drool is already removed in 9.1.5, well adjusted, not actually removed.
Drool, cough, burp, fart, whistle, spit, and moon no longer change when used while targeting a player.

/me is spitting at insertplayerhere

Ye that change totally prevented one from being toxic.

Just get addon “WokeReverter” and no changes are here.

If they wanted to prevent people being toxic they should remember /s-w-p-i-y-e exist lol.

:man_shrugging: It’s a stupid change for sure, if anything they need to add more emotes, and make them visually appealing instead of removing.

Wouldnt surprise me if such addons would appear.

If they make these changes with the actual intention of cutting down on toxicity then im just out of words of how naive they are.

If they make these changes because of internal stuff like the people that got harrassed demanding it then okay sure fine whatever at least it came from inside but then for the love of god communicate with us. I know i expect to much of them to communicate given they have proven to be incapable of that for over 16 years.

If Blizzard actually looked at making improvements rather then going over the top with being the Emote Police then maybe they’d get more respect from the players. I rarely see emotes being used and even then the only one I’ve ever seen abused and spammed by idiots is the /spit emote.

It’s just kicking the can down the road imo.

And said idiots could still do it (and will) with the /me emote. If they also remove that then they will find another way to harass one. Arguably worse ways.

They sure can but they’re already also using other methods to harass others in the current game so they aren’t in a position to need to find them.

Removing certain emotes isn’t going to stop people being abusive to others but they’ve just gone a little too far with what they think is abusive when the worst offender (/spit) was already on the cards to be removed. I’ve never seen other emotes be used like /spit has been in this game. They could have devoted the time to other issues with the game.

The whole toxicity could have been addressed by improving the report system. But that would require Blizzard to actually do stuff manually which they seem to be allergic about so they then stick with their usual plan of “lets do something so we dont have to do anything like all of our totally flawless automated systems that haven been proven to be trash since release and lets lie about how they work because its not like the players will be able to prove that on day 1”

I agree, a better reporting system could have made some big improvements including adding an option to block and report as a singular function rather than having to do both individually. Blizzard seems to be putting their attention in all the wrong places rather than looking to make the player experiences better.

Its like they only will make changes when major things happen, like the changes they suddenly decided on when spending a year justifying terrible systems in shadowlands only to suddenly change after a mix of the lawsuit and players leaving.

not gonna lie if I got sexually harassed I wouldnt go around being like “yeah smell emote? that’s so toxic, you gotta remove it -_-”

Different people different priorities. But in such a case Blizzard isnt in a position to refuse. IF that is the case. Which i will doubt unless they communicate.

Why not just give us option to just disable emotes if we dont like them? I would love that. I hate all emote spams.
