To this day, spotting a forumite in the wild -on- their forumtoons is still something rare, though I did encounter a few over the years! A few more if you count other toons of theirs.

I think it kind of depends on how you interpret it. Truly negative forums and communities will find spite where there realistically is none. AD is mainly a roleplay forum and WoWâs narrative capabilities these days are, generously speaking, limited so itâs nice to have a place to vent about it with people who are generally on the same wavelength (which doesnât always mean agreement but rather the willingness to engage the topic). So for AD yeah it might come off as negative and cynical but Iâve honestly been genuinely inspired by how some people here can put their feelings on the matter of WoW lore into well-written posts. There is an incredibly dry british wit to most topics that is the reason I keep popping back in.
We get offrealmers from time to time complaining about the most inane things because they think theyâre on the main forums and I think thatâs a better look into how an endless negativity cycle can permeate a forum.

I miss when half the fun of campaigns was the absolutely apocalyptic drama that would erupt on the forums.
Horsegate, Dishonor to u, soldier, etc. I miss that.

Complaining also shows people care, itâs when people check out without a word. When the playerbase started to rapidly diminish in Cataclysm and later WoD, it just kinda happened with little fanfare. The game is fun, the story? Eh. Iâd rather take people complaining about the recycled, sterile and predictable story over glazing it like it was penned by a committee of Tolstoy, Shakespeare and Dante.

I think that yes, the forums tend to be a bit too negative.
I am guilty of this too, mind you, but in general I am of the idea that people could just as easily be proactive and positive, as opposed to being very cynical and angry all the time.
If I were to point at a problem, is that a lot of concepts, initiatives and so forth are going to receive a massive amount of negativity just for being posted here, and that on occasion there is a bit of a self-appointed âI know betterâ vibe that ironically stifles and suffocates RP: how many new initiatives have been done via these forums, lately?
Ironically, I read a lot of comments from people who both ask for the drama of old, and lament having issues finding role-play. Hmm, I wonder why some groups would not be keen of associating with them.

This is my main gripe with some of the gloom-and-doom posters on these forums (some of who donât even actively play anymore) who seem to have constructed a reality about the state of the server/RP that doesnât at all match with how things actually look in game.
Itâs fine of course to want to vent or complain, I do it too, but when itâs just constant negativity for the sake of being negative, without seeking any solution to the issue (real or imagined), then it quickly becomes wearisome.

I believe that negativity is a bandwagon on the internet and people like to jump on some minor issue that they donât really care about just so they can fit someplace.
WoW (and Warcraft in general) is old as heck and itâs normal for people who sometimes invested decades of their lives feel strongly about whatever issue is connected to it because, for some, it comes across as an issue that reflects on parts of themselves, and dat bad.
Perhaps itâs also become a force of habit to approach anything with a dash of cynicism. Weâre all getting older and facing boring adult issues. Life is weird and strange.
I like it when people try to see a positive side, glance over the overly negative and try to consider well-phrased arguments.

Nope. Just a modicum of willingness to want to solve an issue, or even just believe that a solution is possible would be more than enough, I promise. 
Personally think that the above pointless sniping and snarky moralising is more damaging than empty dripping about the game.

Tbh the old phrase âbe the change you want to seeâ comes to mind. Iâve made one, actually Iâve made two, Vaxirs made at least one, as have others throughout the years.
Threads or conversations dedicated to a positive vibe donât stick long, which isnât a surprise. This is an mmo forum, people who are enjoying an mmo rarely visit the official forums and so the forums become the place people who are dissatisfied go to vent their frustrations.
Then that spins into other things over time, itâs a predictable pattern. People want to change that⌠well thereâs a thread entirely dedicated to positive vibes that hasnât been touched in 9 days.
Which says it all really.
