Considering the racials that is.
I’ll also make one hunter, but not sure whether that’ll be a human or nelf yet.

For whatever it’s worth, night elf females have excellent bow animations, and night elf males have casting animations that belies their struggles with constipation.
Nelf because being a mage the shadowmeld is a lifesaver
I wouldn’t play a female character as a male
Unless humping the air while having a massive headache sounds cool to you while casting, go for the human.
Draenei because who wouldn’t want to look like a fridge with feet when playing a caster.
I’d say human, tbh. All the stats are increased while nelf gives Haste during night and Crit during day.
for hunter nelf male isn’t bad! i have 1 myself and the bow animation is not bad at all.
Can relate with this phrase btw.
Although mages have invisibility too.
The male nelf bow technique is a bit underrated imo and it’s better for some irl too, but it is not that common though (not talking about competitive bow shooting)
Man’ari allied race, please. I want to be a red fridge.
i think it would be easyer for them to just give us players the eredar customisation for draenei.
But… Warlocks…
I’m thinking of creating a Void Elf Warlock
Their current plan is to eventually add all the classes to all the races so in current prediction that will happen sometimes in the future.
Human - those are iconic mages
True, double life saver ! Although I’m sure shadowmeld CD is a lot shorter than invisibility but I could be wrong.
Invisibility? Does pretty much the same.
I have two invisibilities on my mage, but one might have been talented. I don’t actually remember.
You didn’t mention for what purpose you want a mage.
If it was a main/acc starter then (mage ofc, for quick portals everywhere) nelf because shadowmeld is such a qol for dropping trains of mobs and just keep going with quest objectives in peace. It speeds up everything and saves so much time. If you plan on farming overkill rep and loremaster then human ofc, with a stack of dmf hats stored up.
They’re both talented now.
But as Vrachka said above, Shadowmeld CD is a lot shorter, AND you can stay in Shadowmeld forever as log as you don’t move.
An extra aggro drop is SO hamdy on a mage!
