[NElf-RP] Winterspring Expedition 5-10th December (Sign-ups closed)

I thought it’d be nice to initiate some roleplay in Winterspring during the winter season, to embrace the snow and cold themes. To keep it focused, the event is aimed at night elves, though other characters with close ties to kaldorei society and who are actively roleplayed within that context—such as worgen, dryads, and moonkins—are welcome to join as well. This is organized on Alliance side only.

The Premise

A group of Timbermaw furbolg have set an outpost in Winterspring (OOC Winterfall Village). They're having trouble with ice giants, and approach the night elves for help to deal with the aggressors. In-character summons for help will spread a week before the expedition takes off.

Schedule

:school_satchel: Thursday 5th Dec 20:00 ST: Traveling from Astranaar to Winterspring with supplies for the furbolgs, pushing through a blizzard, setting up camp inside the furbolg outpost. Bring your tent or ask a friend about sharing theirs!

:tent: Friday 6th Dec 20:00 ST: Minor camp activities, a furbolg NPC handing out a few small quests to give characters something to do together—such as outpost repairs, setting out to hunt food in the frozen wilds, gathering some missing items. The weather remains dreadful with low visibility.

:crossed_swords: Saturday 7th Dec 20:00 ST: A DMed event about facing the enemy.

:snowman_with_snow: Sunday 8th Dec 20:00 ST: Recovery, victory feast, fun social games with the weather having finally cleared up. Maybe a few rounds of Bonk-Alore with twigs and icicles found in the vicinity.

:mount_fuji: Monday 9th Dec 20:00 ST: An off-day, people are welcome to roleplay on their own in Winterspring.

:man_bowing: Tuesday 10th Dec 20:00 ST: A small furbolg-inspired ceremony, taking down the tents, traveling back to Ashenvale together.

The plot is straightforward and serves mainly as an in-character reason to spend a few days up north. This isn’t designed to be a large-scale campaign with a deep storyline; instead, the focus is on characters working together in the blistering cold, and providing the night elf scene a brief RP hotspot in Winterspring.

If you’re interested in joining the frosty expedition, please use the sign-up format below 7th November 7am ST onwards—it helps get an idea how many people we would have for this. If you’d like to come with members of your guild, please fill the format for each player attending. While attendance on all days isn’t required, it’s recommended being present on at least three days of your choosing.

It’d be good if your character was high enough level to avoid aggroing the level 30 hostile NPCs in Winterfall Village, which represent Timbermaw furbolgs in-character.

A simple /roll system will be used for the Saturday event, and for some weather related effects during Thursday’s travel through the blizzard. :cloud_with_snow:

Signing up to the expedition begins on Thursday 7th November at 7am Server Time to give everyone a fair heads-up about the initiative, and some time to check with their guild and friends who may be interested. Sign-ups submitted prior to this won’t be registered. Update: Sign-ups are closed!

On that note, Jai’are has kindly set up a temporary “Winterspring Adventure” category on the Amirdrassil server for this event. A lot of people signed up are already in there, and it allows others in the night elf scene to see what’s happening on the expedition even if they can’t attend themselves. The #w-expedition-info channel will provide essential OOC and IC details, and #w-expedition-rp is for off-screen character interactions. General chat, stories, and screenshots can be shared in the server’s usual channels.

This sounds very interesting! I love Wintersrping and snowy areas in general and I have couple of night elves that might enjoy this event for sure. I am not very experienced roleplayer and I don’t want to ruin anyone’s rp immersion by being a newbie, so I have to think about this. There’s plenty of time tough

I love this concept! I’d love to come along. I just hope I can make the sign ups this time around. Normally I miss out due to timezone tomfoolery and how popular these tend to be.

Don’t set your expectations too high for this one! :laughing: I’m saving my energy for the Lunar Festival, so this will be much more lightweight on the organizing side. :smile: Still, a little bit of a premise is better than nothing to gather everyone together—I’m just hoping for a few fun days up north with good company! :snowman:

Please give the thread a thorough read, and just to keep expectations in check—this won’t be a very deep storyline campaign. DMing will be largely limited to Thursday and Saturday, and some small activities to prompt roleplay on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday. The expedition is more of an incentive to have a brief roleplay hotspot in Winterspring for the night elf scene.

As mentioned in the main post, the event is aimed at the night elves, exception made for characters that are closely affiliated with the kaldorei society and actively roleplayed in that context. If you’ve been actively roleplaying your dracthyr in the night elf scene, and that’s where the character’s focus is, then it’s fine, otherwise I’d recommend coming on another character that is more affiliated with the kaldorei society. Could you please let me know which it will be?

Given it some thought! And though this lad has been active, including in the kaldorei scene. I think I’d personally gain more from this on my actual night elf character who’s… probably also more talkative (though given the multitude of accounts, I may just bring the other around for the casual things, rather than events if this is alright of course)

But yes, I digress! I shall change it to the kaldorei because kaldorei are awesome and they deserve all the love in the world.
