I play holy pladin, and I am allowed to need on this item. However, for some reason it does not trigger on AoE healing spells and abilities. Why is this the case? Some other trinkets specifically states if it works with healing or damage spells. Neltharion’s Call to Chaos makes it seem as if it works with all kinds of AoE spells and abilities.
Neltharion’s Call to Chaos says:
Equip: Your area effect spells and abilities have a chance to grant you 2109 “Primary Stat” and increase damage you receive by 5% for 18 sec.
Compare the text to Kyrakka’s Searing Embers:
Equip: Your helpful spells and abilities have a chance to create a Burning Ember on an ally. The ember flares up after 2 sec, cauterizing wounds to heal for 7296 and expelling 3428 Fire damage split between nearby enemies.
… and Voidmender’s Shadowgem:
Equip: Embrace the gem to increase your Critical Strike by 352 for 15 sec. Your healing as well as damage-dealing spells and abilities have a high chance to empower the gem, increasing its effect.
Because it’s a DPS trinket - it mentions ‘‘AoE Spells and Abilities’’, not ‘‘AoE Healing’’. If it works for healing, it’ll mention that in the description.
An evoker player would have to confirm but i would assume it is because you do not have aoe healing abilities as a Paladin.
The so called aoe healing a holy paladin do is all cleave healing none is classified as aoe.
Healing would fall under this category.
Also interestingly the guide writer on wowhead wrote this A Neltharion’s Call to Chaos Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible - Neltharion A crit trinket with an intellect proc. It can proc from any of our AoE spells both healing and damage ones.
While the icy-veins guide C tier Neltharion’s Call to Chaos — only if you keep Consecration down at all times
Have not tested but, does it proc via Consecration or SotR? Could make use of it in keys if that is the case but guess you would opt for better option anyway instead of some hard-to-trigger triket.
I would assume this is just an oversight and will be patched at some point. To be able to MS roll as holy Paladin there must be more spells that proc it than just consecration… like at least LoD, SotR too.
