Every time i kill broodtwister i am afraid for my life that big spiders will kill me:) happened many times.

And yes this 3-4 waiting after combat starts to not pull aggro feels very bad

Same here. threat issue hasn’t been fixed since it appeared. Blizzard snooze fest on this.
It’s like charge as a partial aoe taunt, i swear to god.

Sometimes, I wait so long that the pack is half dead, and i enter bursting, and still aggro.

Situation has been on since release . One more thing to further downgrade fury dmg xD
You literally have to wait 5-6 secs , and on BL pulls chances are the pack is half dead already by the moment you charge in , and your DK and Pally friends already done 3 mill dps xD

I hate keeping up saying this but:

If you give your tank the time to build their snap-threat, you shouldn’t tear agro from the pack when you pop off. My go to example is; wait for BDK to drop DND, then count to 3; or rather just do a WW, BT, RB, Ramp.

During the pull you as Fury risk pulling threat on your focus target, as our ST is quite high, and if tank isn’t on the same target you might over time rip to you. To avoid this simply change target in the pack on pull a few times.

If you still gain threat using the two strats above, then it isn’t a ‘you’ issue anymore. It is a tank issue. Bad tanks, or rather; inexperienced tanks struggle a lot with being GCD threat building efficent. Trust me when I say this - the average tank main has not cared to minmax this at all. Only tanks who did Raza add phases got some feel of what is needed. Yet, when you play with a tank who knows how to do handle this, you will have no issues.

Trust me, I can AoE burst for 12mill and still not tear threat - as long as I give the tank the few sec of positioning and setup needed. This to me, is great game design. As this makes me want to work around what the tank is doing and the tank want to perform better because of myself.

In all the keys I done this week I can count on one hand every time I tore threat from the tank (and every time it was me missreading the tank intent). It really is a non-issue, and partly it is a ‘just git gud’ solution that solves this problem.

Note: I am not saying you are not experiencing this problem. Just keep in mind it is more a tank and strat issue, than a class/spec/damageprofile issue. That is my point.

Nice insight as always but major point is that this seems to be a very " fury specific " situation . What you describe is great overall explanation for causes and solutions but main thing is that for some reason this might be the single situation fury is Top 1 on . I never experienced any other class ripping aggro like fury , despite having bigger burst and sustain.

I would invite you to hear me once again , i wait sometimes 5 seconds to charge in and burst , by which time my mates already crossing 3-4-5 mill dps without taking aggro and for some magical reason when i go in i rip it right away

Sadly, that is a tank issue if you rip threat. Some classes got inbuilt thread reduction, like VDH to Rogues. Pet classes don’t generate threat on themselves. Casters allow tank some room to lose threat for a global. Yet, Fury Warrior do not have bigger issues than others. It simply is because Fury packs a lot of its damage in that space of time.

When they do 3-5million, you do 12 million in the space of two GCDs. Fury is very spiky, so much that most wont notice it.

As an example, here are two openers - both are a total of 2,6 vs 2,9 million:
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/fvnjgJDHChcKFAYq#fight=2&type=damage-done&source=7&start=2045890&end=2388223
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/fvnjgJDHChcKFAYq#fight=2&type=damage-done&source=5&start=2045890&end=2388223

As you can see the rogue is pulling 4 million, but it lasts for longer and over time. Rogue starts earlier (around 13 sec mark) and warrior goes later (around 17 sec mark). This gives the rouge 3 seconds of being a “4 million DPS” situation, and when the warrior pops off he also is “4 million DPS” Threat is taken only if you go above the Threat Per Seccond the Tank is doing, plus a safety built in. The rogue doing 4 million a sec, will not overtake the tanks TPS to the point of causing threat to redirect. The Warrior is also doing 4 million a sec, since start, but it all comes in one bulk. Rogue in that timeframe is doing 4million, warrior is doing 10 million. 10 million is a lot more likely to pull threat, even if the warrior comes in delayed - simply, he just does that much more damage in that persiod of time. One giant spike. That spike is what could overtake the tank and pass above the Threat Loss threshold.

Hope this helps to clarify it.

Even in the example the warrior delays his opener close to 5 sec, and still does more damage in the scenario than the rogue. Simply because the AoE burst profile is loaded into one event. So if that event comes out 10 sec after everyone else - doesn’t matter, as long the mobs are still alive and kicking.

Focus on effect of your DPS, not the number on the meter at any given time. Don’t care if the rogue, paladin or mage is doing 5 million DPS and you are doing 0, because when you press your buttons you will burst out twice or thrice their numbers they already done in such a short time frame that you are in real danger of pulling threat.

Think of it as a Formula 1 car Vs a Honda Civic. The Formula 1 car (in this case the stand in for Fury Warrior) can easilly allow the Honda Civic the 5 sec headstart. As one goes from 0 to a 100 a lot faster than the other. Don’t look at the Honda happily putring ahead of you. Dont care about it. Because you will pass it in to time. Now think of tank-threat as a truck your car really dont want to bump into ahead of you. The longer you give it, the futher ahead of it is. The Honda can pedal to the metal from get go - and just barely stay behind it. The Formula 1 car will hit that truck with the force of so much soon-to-become-scrap.

Don’t play like a Honda, play like a Formula 1 car. Avoid bumping the truck.

damage curve profile isn’t the issue. Ive pulled way less damage than a fdk and ret pala together going strong on packs, and me waiting like 5 to 10 gcd’s before i enter, and i still pull threat. this is an issue that started in bfa and hasn’t been addressed since.

I’ve been pulling agro constantly in M+ dungeons, I don’t know what to do about it sometimes because it’s never been this bad. I remember the pulls we did in Shadowlands where Fury was considered a threat magnet back then too, but it was nowhere near as bad as this.

It’s like being back in ancient times. All for all that we are completely mid damage wise.

Thanks for the detailed answer , you are always coming in hot with loads of knowledge i respect that .
Still , i never had to think , let alone wait many gcds before charging in
that so " not warrior like "
In dragonflight i could just go total retard and even aggro before the tank so now it hurts my warrior brain .

It seems you are a forums warrior! Show us your warrior to know to whom we speak with!

By the way, in DF we could do very high burst with zero aggro. Why this aggro issue happening again?

Indeed, all we do naturally is: zugzug

You get used to giving tanks the time needed, just feels weird at start (trust, I too zugzug’d and killed myself a lot during the beta cycle).

In DF we got the threat issue from the giant AoE burst increase we got. The thing that did make it less noticable is that tanks was uber-powered at the tail-end of the expansion. Even the worst of abiltiy usage would create tons of threat through pure damage.

Just remember - we did tear threat left and right from undergeared and inexperienced tanks, we just didnt notice as we were rockin’ 70-80% armor and 40% versa values to soak those white swings that came our way.

On beta threat was less of an issue. There was tons of complaints from Fury warriors even back then. Yet, when I tanked with Fury warriors, I never had any issues holding threat as long they followed the set-up rule. As Fury myself I only noticed problems with inexperienced tanks or tanks who was testing out different things.

Very often the outcry seen came from people who did not want to wait or adapt, as such created isses for themselves during testing. I sort that into the ‘selfcaused’ problems box. Threat was not really a huge issue (beyond tanks in general doing very mediocre damage).

I presume most of the threat issues will disappear as tanks gets better at snap-threat and getting some gear on their bodies. Again, I don’t have the threat issue anymore, other than when I chose (or forget) to chance the damage for risk play. Yet, I 100% believe that the issue is prominent at lower key level tiers and uninformed warriors kill themselves with bad timing.

Same name structure (Funkykitty army), warrior on same realm. Ya can’t miss it, it is linked as my main after all :dracthyr_yay_animated:

That big pull in blackrook hold where you pull the entire hallway, full cooldown burst into absurd dps numbers, threat rarely an issue. If you did that pull in TWW as a Warrior you’d have to go for a tea break before you start dpsing.

At least for me as a Fury, i’ve been taking threat since Shadowlands but it got way, way worse in DF. Still seeing it in TWW. How is it this still a thing

That’s not true. Blizzard fixed the aggro issue in early days in DF. I remember there was a blue post about it.

Just nerf fury aoe burst and problem solved. Thank me later.

:dracthyr_no1: :dracthyr_no2:

This is exactly what I am against, and don’t want. Tho, don’t worry, it is the path we are going down currently.

Fury AoE burst has been chizzled down - gradually and over time, to soon the point of only being theoretical relevant. Aka: Numbers say it is good, but practical feel and usage it is unnoticeable.

Burst that you don’t notice, is pointless and dead as a concept.

I will die on my hill of Fury Burst AoE being the most fun the game has been in years, and I will be loud about it. All in hope that there are others who agree and join me in being loud about it.

If people aren’t loud and that doesn’t happen. Well, we are back to DF levels of “burst” in no time. Where bringing the burst tools are a net DPS loss - buT sTiLL gOoD iN rAid ENcounTers desiGneD foR iT! WoOp WoOp! or living at the mercy of tiersets to make a burst talents barely viable.

The worst timeline.

Yeah no, i agree. But this is what i imagine blizzards solution would be.
