I believe Blizzard should completely drop the nerfing mentality, unless a spec is truly game-breaking. Instead, they should focus on bringing other healers and DPS up to that level in terms of HPS and DPS.
This is an MMORPG, after all. The whole point is to gear up your character and feel stronger, not weaker. It’s frustrating to put in the time and effort to grind better gear, only to end up feeling less powerful than you were 20 item levels ago.
No one enjoys reading patch notes and seeing the spec they spent an entire season gearing up get gutted in a single patch.
By “gutted” you mean “brought into line with other specs”?
How frustrating do you think it is for all the non disc healers knowing they don’t get a look in because someone less skilled is playing a broken class?
Oracle Disc Priest is popular and loved because it’s broken, fun, and comfortable to play. Why do you think it’s the most played healing spec right now? People naturally gravitate toward overpowered and smooth-feeling specs.
That’s exactly my point, why not bring all the other healer specs up to that level? That way, Oracle Priests wouldn’t feel like all their grinding this patch was for nothing.
And what do you think will happen when Oracle becomes unplayable? Players will just flock to the next meta healer, and the rest still won’t get invited.
When has nerfing an overperforming spec ever made all the other specs viable in WoW history? It never has. All it does is shift the meta to the next strongest healer, and people will slowly but surely start only inviting that one instead.
People just love seeing the dominant spec’s throne shattered and making those who play it feel miserable. But that’s definitely not a healthy way to advocate for a better healing meta.
If people are enjoying this, this has to be standard for the all other healers, not the other way around.
Unholy dks balance druids Dh tanks and dicipline priest gotcha loud and clear lets keep those the only viabl end content classes speccs for high end m+
Oracle discs issue wasn’t one of output. It was the fact the spec was capable of something fundamentally different to every other healer, something healers shouldn’t be able to do and every previous time they have been it’s been detrimental to the game.
Is it really biased to advocate that everyone should have fun and no one should feel left out?
That’s exactly what people are drawn to. Your opinion becomes irrelevant when you look at the numbers. Class and spec popularity spikes the moment players realize how overpowered they are, because people love playing broken classes and clearing content easily.
So I don’t really get your point, why should the content be made “harder”? Based on what parameters?
Also, tone down the condescending attitude. This is a discussion thread,so let’s discuss. No need to insult people just for presenting an argument.
What is game breaking, Who chooses what is game breaking?
You do understand that Shields are OP strong thing right?
There is a reason they got completely gutted and even removed the Mastery Paladin had because of it.
Shields will always be eaten first they are coming after mitigation and not before so they can not be balanced around existing (unless they are tiny)
Disc priest how it Functions Right Now is Because of the gutting of the shields in the past because it was overpowered.
Blizzard has been down this route before we already know what happens.
Now to the bring people up instead this does not work in any game in existence it creates powercreep like no other and for healers that means 1 shots is going to happen.
The way blizzard are doing it has made it possible for them to keep the balance of the game fairly good over several expansions so good that often bring the player and not the class has actually been True.
If what i am hearing is correct this was an 8% nerf in hps output you are saying is gutted.
Were we even playing the same game? We’ve literally been stuck with one Exodia comp for the last five consecutive seasons.
I was speaking about all classes in general, not just about priests. Personally, I played Arcane Mage in TWW Season 1, and they absolutely gutted it. By the end of the expansion, I was actually weaker than at the start. At some point, the spec became more of a liability than something I could truly enjoy.
Lets not pretend you want a discussion. You’re an fotm reroller that got nerfed and you’re mad. Because apparently an almost zero cooldown CD where you can plonk a shield on someone big enough to negate any mechanic doesn’t meet the definition of “gamebreaking”.
“Oh, I’m just presenting a viewpoint to facilitate discussion!”. Pull the other one.
I’m not playing Disc and im not FOTM reroller i’ve only played 2 classes ever since i’ve started retail.
I’ve never said Disc isn’t game-breaking. What I said is that nerfs shouldn’t happen unless a class is broken and exploitative.
Shielding is the least of what’s been nerfed. I’m not even sure if you still play the game or understand how the spec works,it’s still throwing out 5 million shields.
Only recently, after they nerfed Disc Priest, completion success margins in high-end content dropped. They ended up nerfing four dungeons and Mythic Mug’zee, Gallywix, and One-Armed Bandit. So your whole argument of “ÖhHh If tHeY mAkE oThEr hEaLeRs aS sTrOnG aS dIsC, cOnTeNt wIlL bE eAsIeR sO tHeY nEeD tO bUfF tHe hArDeSt cOnTeNt” is completely out the window , they literally did the opposite.Too much content nerfs going on for the sake of ‘‘less steps’’
Anyway, that was my last comment to you. You seem more interested in talking about me than addressing the factual, documented reality.
You are finding out why Disc priest was changed to even do healing while doing damage in the first place.
Shields are inherently overpowered Both Disc priest and Holy paladin got massive changes when the first time Shields took over the game.
Now if blizzard wants shields to be at all decent the raw HPS number without shields Needs to be low at all times for Disc otherwise it is and always will be the best healer
So you are fine and good with Disc being nerfed right?
Because that is what you are saying Disc was in the same sentence.
