Fordring’s Leap (Other possible name idea, Shattering Leap)
The essence of this ability would be a short range closer that dealt decent damage.
Appearance: Similar to Yrel’s Avenging Wrath ability in Heroes of the Storm. Avenging Wrath wings out and leap towards the target.
Damage: Roughly equal to Templar’s Verdict
Cooldown: 20-30 Seconds
Range: 10-20 yards
Holy power cost: Could be either 0 or 3 (I can see reasonable arguments for either)
Possible Augmentation: Increased damage or increased crit chance against targets on low HP
Talent possibility: Frostmourne’s Bane: Fordring’s Leap also disarms the target for 3 seconds.
I think this ability would give ret the extra mobility it needs and the extra flavour it is lacking. Additionally it could give a healthy amount fo damage to our rotation if tuned right.
Press button, you go into the air at a specific heigh, keeping the button pressed (like evoker mechanic) will continuously increase an AoE around you, up to 40yards.
Cursor will become and AoE kinda like warrior leap, and you smash down on the area, dealing holystrike damage and a 80% slow for 5 seconds. Costs 4 Holy Power.
This will provide skill expression, because you have to target the area, and it can also be dangerous because you take damage whilst in air waiting for the full range. Let’s say full cast could be 2 seconds.
Just a suggestion: In Diablo 3, Crusaders had an ability called Falling Sword, which worked like this—when activated, the Crusader ascends into the sky, becoming untargetable for a brief moment, then slams down at a chosen location, dealing Holy damage. This ability could be used both offensively and defensively, and it might even replace Divine Steed. It should may be trigger Consecration upon landing if talented …It would fit the Paladin aesthetic perfectly. I’m not arguing for its functionality or balance, but if a leap-like ability were to be introduced for Paladins, this feels like the ideal concept.
