In any case, the sappy knows no bounds, does it? Well, maybe this is Blizzard’s way to get these characters to pick themselves back together and steel themselves for more actual Warcraft again.
Metzen said himself it is a play on words, War Within. It is about these people’s war within themselves and the war within Azeroth. Don’t care for it then don’t read it.
On the one hand, muh feelings aint that motivating and it hasn’t been recieved well.
On the other hand he did say epic moments need emotions where hes not wrong and there have been cool moments where the overarching story was about emotion (the scene i mention in almost all my wow lore rants about epicness, jaina after the bombing of theramoore, almost destroyed orgrimmar, very epic if you ask me), I just want hard emotions and not, slightly annoyed/slightly sad then we do something and now they are mildly impacted and now slightly happier.
I’m super pumped for a moment when people realize that Chris is 50 years old grown man with family and kids and probably isn’t interested in writing zug zug blood and honor plots anymore.
Christ Metzen himself approves this book, it’s pretty much canon in every possible way.
No scapegoating Danuser anymore
Will there be short stories among them that’ll simply be shared with everyone? I usually enjoy those, it adds some flavour and depth to both the world and the relevant npc’s. Not going to buy 6 books tho
The list itself reads a bit like ‘soap opera galore’ tho, I can only agree. I hope it’ll be the calm before the storm, a setting up for what is to come.
I find it odd that the release date is November given we are expecting a late summer release. I wonder if it is a fake date so nobody goes “AHA! So the expansion will be out just after that!”
The sad thing is that even if War within is a masterpiece we are already so tired by all the moping during Drahonflght we would not appreciate it properly anyway.
I trust Metzen because he is the once who created the franchise. If even his saga is bad then no one can save Warcraft.
Trust me, he still loves cataclysmic levels of power and unbridled badassery. In that game you have spells to reshape the mountains and that’s just getting started.
