So. I reinstalled WoW because I was considering coming back for The War Within. But the new character selection screen is just terrible and frustrating.
Maybe if you have 5 -10 toons it’s okay, but I have a lot more, on different realms, different factions, etc. It used to be organized, but now it’s just a mess. Sure you can favourite 4 and reorganize them, but it’s still incredible frustrating when you have 20+ toons.
It should be such a simple thing for them to make good, even with the changes. Give the user some options. But no. We are given this mess. If they can’t even get this right, or better, I simply don’t trust them to make a game that isn’t equaly as frustrating. So what I was hoping was going to be an interesting return to WoW, ended up being a quick uninstall instead. I’ll keep an eye out for reviews and hopefully a fix to this, but until then. Pass.
Furthermore, if you organize all your toons in the list (eg. in order of realm and level), when you relog, it’s all scrambled again as to whatever sorting Blizzard wants you to have. So dumb.
Also… realizing that this post should be in the community section, I’m not allowed to post there for some reason (You’re not allowed to create topics in this category). I mean… seriously.
I am also frustrated by this new list. No way to filter by realm is my main gripe. I have characters on multiple realms, with a mix of languages. During covid, I started playing on a German realm to try and improve my German, which worked reasonably well (and I had nothing much else to do for several months).
Playing in English today, I set about leveling up a 30-something druid, and some time later got a pile of email in German. While that isn’t a bug as I was on a German realm, I hadn’t actually noticed when I logged in.
This leads me to two questions…
What is the point of the realm selection button at the top when it does nothing useful to the character list?
What is the point of the bottom right corner button which allows you to collapse the character list or display it, when there are no other options available (obvious ones being ‘This realm only’ or ‘Sort by …’)
As ‘New and improved’ goes, I want ‘Old and inferior’ back.
