New currencies are coming to battle.net

I got a mail announcing that my account will switch to local currency soon.

I also found one article mentioning this so far https://gg.deals/blog/blizzard-announces-changes-regarding-battlenet-transaction-currency/

Article mentions Poland, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and India. As an Israeli I can confirm we also move to local currency and probably more.

I guess Blizzard haven’t made public announcement yet, but if your local currency isn’t Euro it might be worth checking your mail.

Most likely due to fact that Microsoft integrated financial services are taking over.
Try to compare your Microsoft products prices in NOK to EUR price for some hint at what ratiojs can be.

The mail said they’ll use the exchange rate on the day before the swap.

His q isnt about the rate of conversion for remaining balance, but future cost of sub.
As you know in EU region the price of the sub fluctuafe significantly between EUR price and for example Kazahstan price, where poorer regions get cheaper deals.
His concern that nominally rich Norway might get a more expensive deal is reasonable.

Well in that case yeah I guess, not that I’m too familiar with Microsoft/Xbox store so I wouldn’t know what to compare to.

I got this mail for the Bulgarian currency too. I’m pretty sure it’s all due to them being owned by Microsoft where they’re using the local currency for pretty much every country. The prices won’t change, you’ll just have a clearer idea of what costs what

A fellow swede I see

I am just gonna conclude nobody has any idea how this will affect their sub price within a month. Not even on reddit. I thought I’d find some math genious somewhere, calculating it. At least roughly!

The thing is a direct conversion is done easy. But that’s not what’s happening here.

As others have said the only option now is to just look at other microsoft games and stores where they sell in local currency versus regular euro’s to roughly predict where it will end up until the official price is in.

Yeah, saw the tip… problem is I am an absolute retard when it comes to any kind of math. I really don’t understand how to use that info on my own, but I understand that it’s a tool to use. I usually don’t get it until I see the numbers with the answer, and I might just imagine it even then /embarrassed laughing smiley.

I’ll know eventually I guess, but Microsoft tend to be greedy, so I might be out of the game for economical reasons within a month.

I can’t believe I sat on the forums in 2007, talking about how cheap the sub price was, and that I hardly noticed it. These days it’s quite different, and currently almost not affordable.

I see in an earlier post of yours you said you’re using NOK, I have an example here:

This is a price example of XBOX/Game Pass just compare EUR to NOK or other currencies (price is likely outdated due inflation and being halfyear old but gives indication).

Thanks. This might go pretty bad looking at that. I keep telling myself they aren’t doing this, but looking at everything else in this country having the prices upped by several %, this is unlikely to be an exception.

My salary used to be worth something. 3 years ago. Contrast is just too big within a very short timespan, but at least I’m safe still. It’s just annoying if I have to convert to f2p games where I get the bottom of the barrel because I’m not paying anything at all.

Yep, I am a tad negative atm, but mostly annoyed pricing might be what decides if I’ll continue WoW or not.

Can’t even use these forums if my sub goes! (I do like the forums…)

Assuming it’s lazy transition and not actual currency exchange. 1euro → 10 whatever local currency that is worth about 1/10 of a euro.

least that’s what i often see on steam.

Hang in there and wait for further announcements. There was also some speculation on the forum that WoW would be moving to be part of the Xbox PC sub. If this is the case then for your monthly sub you will be getting access to alot more games which should add value for your monthly spend.

Not if you play LoTRO. It just requires a heavy grind to earn LP’s to purchase the expansion or quests packs but it is doable. We are wow players and we know all about hefty grinds

If these will be approximately the conversion rates then it works for me. Israeli prices seem to be about 20% cheaper than the Euro conversion.
