I’ve just resubbed two days ago, yay I guess
Since we are discussing buying game time…do we have any update on the ability to buy game time using gift cards in the UK, from somewhere other than online, specifically using the Blizzard shop?
Help me out folks. I have depleted my flags and can’t do anything about this spam.
I’ve flagged some of those posts.
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Will you please stop spamming every thread with this. As a shadow priest myself, I agree with you but there is absolutely no point in spamming it in every thread as:
a) it irritates everyone (including other SPs)
b) it will make absolutely no difference as the Blizzard employees moderating these forums are absolutely nothing to do with those who buff specs.
I’m wondering this too. I’m thinking possibly yes as why else would they have included the Turkish currency when the main issue seems to be getting non-Russians away from paying in rubles.
NB I have no idea if this is the case or not - just guessing.
Very interesting, especially since they still don’t have any of the European currencies (other than EUR and GBP).
Probably a move for good PR and/or the health of the game to keep the player base even if it’s not as profitable for them?
Russia paying less for wow sub. So would be fair if some more poorer countries then EU like Ukraine, Turkey ect. should pay same amount as Russia.
Just subbed last night as I saw another friend bring out the good news that currencies have been updated, really missed the community and the game a lot.
However, I must confirm that only currencies changed and I’m paying for the same overpriced sub options, just in my own currency, if that makes sense. Perhaps, they will adjust the prices in the future. This is still a step in the right direction.
honestly with the quality of the current game and how it has been for a while now they should just drop the sub costs entirely. Because even in countries with the euro the economy is different. For example if you compare slovakia to germany . If they open up the can of worms of giving the other currencies a cheaper sub cost they should adjust the sub costs for every single country
I agree with that, besides a select few, majority of the supported countries that are a part of Europe are one way or another at a disadvantage due to a live currency that must be thought through on a daily basis. It’s a forevermore changing cycle of give and take. It can’t be just 1 gold or 1 silver at any given time at any day.
Blizzard shouldn’t just update the payment methods provided within the Battle.net whenever they feel like it, to equivalent of something else. There is decades of content, culture, history and people involved in this surely but it aged like milk when compared to the competition. Time is a good teacher. Mistakes shouldn’t be repeated.
My mindset is similar to that of a captain’s ‘‘I won’t abandon my ship, if it sinks, I’ll sink along with it’’ motto. I am way too deep in this rabbit hole and I would like to see this through but I have no idea what tomorrow brings.
What worked 17 years ago does not mean it will work just fine 17 years to come. Clearly, Blizzard must’ve realized that since they are doing… something?
sorry but im not happy for currency change…
because game is still very expensive. and a lot of ppl cant return game. maybe a little.
i hope one day game will come microsoft game pass or There will be a discount according to the purchasing power in my country
Those with high purchasing power are pretending to be happy for us, but they do not represent us. I draw your attention to this issue.
I see light at the end of the tunnel. Now, knowing my luck, it may as well be a train coming straight at me… but I’m willing to run towards it.
I completely agree with what you’re saying, trust me my friend. I practically paid as much as a smartwatch price tag just so I can sub and reunite with my old pals and see if I still have it. When you enjoy the game and want to keep being a part of it, it’s even more of an issue because then, you know that you have to pay for it.
That said, whilst this change has no practical benefit to us yet, there is a nice little detail here. Prices will not get dramatically worse from here, until Blizzard demands so. Meaning, when you purchase through Euros or whatever currency you were using, you won’t have to worry about how it will result on your bank account once the payment goes through based on up to date exchange rates.
For example, every day the price I should pay for my sub goes higher thanks to my currency doing worse and worse each day. So when the renewal date comes, I would be paying probably as much as 1 more month due to the exchange rate took place in between that time period. I do believe this issue at the very least will be solved after this update because what you see is exactly what you will pay until it is updated by Blizzard.
Here’s hoping they will provide a complete overhaul on the system for each and every one of us in the very near future.
Good news, blizzard wants your money even if you don’t have internet.
Do you mean because Russian players aren’t allowed? Because the amount of Russian players that used to play ActiBlizz products (I say used to since they aren’t allowed to pay for ActiBlizz products anymore), are so few it’s actually rather funny. The amount of money ActiBlizz lost by excluding Russian players isn’t much.
But anyway, to go back to the topic, does this mean you can “game the system” to pay less for new accounts by choosing Turkey as your country and setting your VPN to it, when creating a new bnet account, while still playing on the same English servers like the rest? Because this seems highly abusable if Turkey gets to pay less just because the Turkish economy is in a toilet spiral heading downwards.
Or if a VPN isn’t allowed, then routing through a proxy I guess?
Seems like there should be new Turkish servers to accompany this change, to balance it out so it doesn’t get abused, the same way the permanent discount on the ruble accounts was locked to the Russian servers and if they wanted to play on the English servers they had to pay properly in Euro full price like the rest of us (or, well, the equivalent price of the Euro accounts, since their region got locked to the ruble).
This is assuming Turkey gets a discount. If they don’t, then nevermind.
No, that wouldn’t work. You can’t choose your country - you have to provide evidence of the country you live in if you move.
No, if you create a new account.
And even moving the old one is easy - the prove of living in a country can be found online in 5 minutes. Russians already playing from Kazakhstan and Turkey.
Earlier this week Blizzard announced their plan to support more Eastern European currencies on its Battle.net Shop. The changes are now live.
Before these changes, players from Ukraine, Georgia, and Kazakhstan paid for the subscription and services in Russian Roubles, whereas players from Turkey paid in Euro. Russian Roubles kept on Battle.net Balance have been converted to new currencies using the current exchange rate.
However, players from these countries are no longer able to use PayPal as their payment method (Battle.net Shop is still accepting credit cards and Battle.net Balance funds).
