High elf paladins could still be a thing for void elves, if Blizzard decides to follow the template for death knights and demon hunters, and restrict some options for the paladin class. If you choose paladins, blueberry skin tones and void tendril hair styles become unavailable.
If they would also give us the option to alter the visual effects of Spatial Rift and Enthropic Embrace to look more arcane, or otherwise less voidy, that would truly satisfy the high elven fantasy.
Honestly, I think it would add a lot more uniqueness to let high/void elves adopt and adapt hairstyles from humans (KT and SW), dwarfs, gnomes and night elves, and leave some of the blood elf styles behind, to signify the cultural adaptation to their Alliance friends.
It’s hard to tell from the previews what other colours and styles Blizzard has in mind, but the logic behind full blood/high elven skintones would fall through if it didn’t also apply to hair colours, so there’s real hope that we’ll get all shades of quel’dorei hair colours.
I really hope hair colors aren’t included. There needs to at least be some distinguishing features between them.
And stop trying to turn Void Elves into something they are not by suggesting that they rework their racials and give them some bastardized version of a “Void Paladin”. They’re Void Elves first and nothing else and that should be the focus going forward in their story and gameplay.
By the way, in lore there’s no reason to restrict hair colors, based on Alleria’s appearance. She’s a Void Elf and she has blonde hair.
But personally I don’t care about the blondes, browns or reds…
I just want one pitch-black one and one moon-white.
Just a simple black and white hair color option.
I’ve wanted that since Void Elves were first introduced.
What would be the logical reasoning to not include them, from a lore perspective? Why would their hair suddenly change, when their skin tones don’t?
I still want old school void elves to be really voidy. And the new ones to get to be a lot more high elven. I’m not for a void paladin, so I’d rather restrict paladins to the non-voidy skins and hairs.
Thing is, I’ve wanted high elves for a long time, and void elves were never a compromise, but another thing completely. Now, with the upcoming options, we’re seeing a compromise, and I truly want the best options possible.
Not rework. Option. Visual effects only. To be able to play high elves if that’s your cup of tea.
Well, as it stands, void elves have more customization options than blood elves. They have the blood elf stuff plus the voidy stuff. In fact they are likely going to have more options than all other allied races combined.
I am happy they got high elves, but we are the original and they are the copy. We are a core race, they are an allied race. Our options should not be limited because Blizzard is going to copy all we get to the other side.
Well, even IF they were to give hair colors to Void Elves there would still be the matter of Hair Styles that would most likely remain unique to the Blood Elves, as well as jewelry and a wider selection of Eye colors.
Indeed. It truly is outrageous that an allied race lookalike, on the opposing faction nontheless is being given the lions share of the options that have been unique to us for over a decade. Beyond our racials and paladins there is nothing that is really unique about this race anymore if they do go out of their way and hand over hair colors too.
Forgive me if I don’t feel all that hyped up about three new hairstyles and jewelry that will be covered up by armor the vast majority of the time for most players.
Void Elves get skin colors, and even if you put Hair colors in that same boat.
Hair styles
Blood Elf Male: 17
Void Elf Male: 12
Blood Elf Female: 20
Void Elf Female: 10
And Blood Elves will get more Hair Styles in Shadowlands. Like all the core races.
Earrings
Blood Elf: 11
Void Elf: 5
Facial Hair
Blood Elf: 10
Void Elf: 8
And it’s already been confirmed that Void Elf facial hair will be given to Blood Elves in Shadowlands.
Faces
Blood Elves got 10 for each sex. (not counting the golden eyed ones)
Void Elves got 8.
Eye colors
Blood Elves will have different shades of Green, Blue and Yellow. So far there’s 21 different sets of eyes on WoWhead.
Void Elves will have different shades of Blue… Some speculate we’ll get purple but nothing is confirmed at this point.
You know they’re not done?
It’s just what they’ve datamined so far.
I have literally zero point zero percent faith in Blizzard to deliver more than what we’ve seen so far. I’ll happily eat crow if I’m wrong but there’s a nasty pattern of three hair styles per gender for every race previewed so far.
Maybe… But I remain slightly optimistic we’ll see more than three hairstyles per race.
If they wanted to be lazy they could have just given Humans Dreads, Afros and Short Jerry Curls for the African ethnicity, and just have the Asian one use the same options that are already in the game.
Reading your comments, I get images in my head of that Real Housewives figure crying and pointing (often at a cat) meme.
Blood elves still have more options, more classes, their own city, they’re in the Horde, and are still getting a lot more new stuff. Lots more eye colours, more hairstyles, more of a lot. And, as Saeryn writes, this is just from what’s been revealed or datamined thus far. I’ll hope for more for the blood elves still, and I’ll be happy for every good thing you get. It doesn’t diminish what I’m getting even the slightest.
I’m a kindergarten teacher. I see kids ages one and up being able to share, to be happy for others, to smile when someone has more than themselves. Young kids, which I’m proud to work with. Something to aspire towards.
