i am no pro or anything but right now, the options we have for the fire totems are a bit “meh” for raid boss encounters. i mean yeah… we have some pewpew totem or a weapon buff totem that we never use but it just feels useless, like, i dont know, a paladin? you know what i mean.
now what would you love to see for p4
the good old +crit fire totem for the group? a fire dot dispell totem? or the so much needed 500% dmg buff for lava burst (min.)
it would free up wind totem to be used for grace of air (agi) totem!
we NEED this utility buff!
paladin received strength of earth and grace of air in a combo that works like a battle shout, the least blizzard could do is compensate the shaman class with a similar combo totem!
those feral druids have been takin’ ur jerbs for long enough!!
this stuff is all coming together man! i like it. you know what just came to my mind? we have the poison and sickness cleansing totem, right?
now sit down! how about a purge totem ticks like the other totem but purges 1-2 effects in a 20y radius.
just to make it clear. purge from the enemy. for BG use.
what we really need is a magic cleansing totem. i think that is warranted.
would put us on the level of those pesky paladins who got the advantage when it comes to dispelling friendly targets.
The idea of shamans getting new things with the aim of aiding in PVE is all well and good,
however that doesn’t stop whatever that is being translated into PVP, and were extremely strong now as it is, being a player of multiple classes i have a much easier time in Bgs on my shaman, by easier i mean my toolkit a solution for pretty much anything, whereas on my hunter i need to focus a lot harder,
Like we don’t need anymore utility, my bars are full and keybinds are taken,
but back to PVE, i just checked WCL, enhance is number 1 with ele being 6th, like its starting to become unfair on other classes,
should my warlock suffer in PVE while shamans are laughing and asking for more toys? a lock has half the utility and half the damage of a shaman, like come on,
the devs need to be very careful with what they add to shamans in phase 4, the class is already very complete in PVE and PVP, if they want to add they must atleast take away and allow other classes to catch up,
i shouldnt be flying on my shaman but walking on my druid.
btw i just wanna point out that i said from the very beginning that giving shaman dual wield instead of balancing it around 2h was a terrible move.
dual wield + maelstrom is the culprit to shamans overperformance, and good luck removing any of those two now without causing severe outrage.
burn + fire nova is also a culprit to dps overperformance.
my tank shaman is topping the meters on trash lol.
the only class outperforming me are other shamans running the same runes on trash, or warlocks using shadowbolt nova spam with the mara dagger for unlimited mana.
on boss fights the story is different though.
warriors are still top dogs due to recklessness and deep wounds.
nonono now hold on young shaman. this is not about other classes. i dont mind if Warlock and Hunter and all get pala bubble and teleport and lava burst.

so why are shamans able to be an extremely high utility class while also at the top of the metres? no one can deny that statement either, amazing utility and amazing damage, which is fun ofc, but shaman isnt the only class in the game,
if that’s the direction sod is going, where classes can be that complete, then where is the warlock utility, hunter utility(which i will say is getting better), mage utility?
druid has good utility but where is the damage? shadow priest has good utility but is at the bottom of the meters, oh and warlock really isnt doing well on the meters either so what do they really have? good tanks?
again, as a player that enjoys multiple classes, i hate to see 1 class run and the rest walk,
I’m here because i want SOD to succeed, but in order to do that the dev’s need to either bring the rest of the classes to the shamans level of completeness, or take things away from them, 100% not add, and if they do add, numbers need to be squashed,
Just think about it this way, the shaman in sod:
can tank
can heal
has 2 strong dps spec’s ( 1 top of WCL 1 6th)
has amazing utility
very strong PVE
very strong PVP
the priest in sod:
can heal ( 3rd on wcl )
} both of these positions are lack luster
true, and shamans can take sexy selfies!
but all that aside… this post is about what new totem we can give shamans. we can gladly open other threads with the request: Boost damage of all other classes dmg 50%. dont care it is not a comparisment threat. that is up to the dev.
let us have a “purge Totem” or something and warlock can heave curse of vegan-farts that stuns every enemy for 5 sec in 10y radius.

in regards to boosting everyone’s damage by 50% to compensate for shamans being so far ahead, that’s a terrible idea, for pvp and pve, flat out terrible,
A purge totem? is the purge we already have no enough for you, you really want to add another totem?

i gave my thoughts on your idea, and gave my reasoning’s why it could be a bad idea.
because blizzard decided to give shamans dual wield instead of keeping them a 2h class, and then they slapped maelstrom weapon on top with predictable consequences.
shaman players never asked for any of this.
we just wanted to do compatible dps (even on the lower end) of other classes, and not literally fall below tanks and healers in regards to their ability to output dps and we specifically wanted to be able to do so USING 2 HANDED WEAPONS.
blizzard gave shaman the sledgehammer treatment when handling this request and now shamans dps is among the best in the game (still outdone by warriors though) and 2 handed weapons are unviable as a result.
warlock got things other than utility, because they already have utility… much like shaman wasn’t given more utility as they already have plenty of that, as well.
hunter is not a utility class and yet they’ve been given a lot of offensive utility, the aoe frost trap being the worst offender, and they can use both traps at once.
their pets got massive buffs and they can now play melee without being a meme.
mage can literally heal now. how is that not utility?

they already did that with the pvp blanket damage reduction aura.
shaman was thee single most affected class, because they took a hit to physical damage, magical damage AND healing.
there’s not a single class in the game who was more negatively affected by the blanket aura than shaman, because shamans are the jack-of-all trades class, moreso than both paladin and druid…
