New gear up system is fantastic

The fact that i could just play the game without time gating or massive grind to be able to raid was amazing!
Low bar of entry for raid is the best system i had many ways to gear up many of which didnt rely on luck.
It was worth to do open world content and the story. Low level gear could be upgraded just by playing open world, i could go around looking for treasures and contribue to upgrade my gear at the same time.
Got to the raid completed normal level and now i can just do other content or aim higher.
I command blizzar for this system as someone who played SL where the barrier for entry in raids was massive this was a shocking improvement!

i’m glad you’re enjoying it. yes, there’s almot no obstacles to start raiding. you can even buy lfr ready boost and start pushing if that’s what you enjoy

I wouldnt want to miss out on all the things i collected along the way, but this time it didnt felt a waste of time.

wouldn’t call it fantastic.
I prefered the valor system over this crap.

The main issue is that you are stuck with e.g. champion loot because you are farming crests for your hero gear.

Why I need to farm content that is below hero gear, to upgrade hero gear?
Yes you can convert higher crests into lower crest at the same rate, but that is a dumb way because you do higher difficulty to convert it into lower difficulty items at the same rate.
Especially when we have crest caps it is stupid that I basically have to run lower content to upgrade my higher gear.

You get an influx of people carrying you. If you have an alt you will gear faster for this reason.

Maybe not dumb maybe you dont consider other reasons, if all was the same type of crest then why would i run a +19 dungeon on higher level if i can spam easy ones and farm faster?
Ironically you would do the same what youre doing now.

I think the problem is doing +19’s, getting loot there, and then have the need of +11-15 crests to be able to upgrade that loot. It should be; do 19’s and get loot and crests that work together with each other.

Not sure this person does the content you lot are talking about. It is definitely a faster way to start getting into it, though.

Agree. I like this new system. Maybe some minor tweeks here and there, but overall its better than anything that came before it.

IMO that was an issue in S2. But not anymore. Because once you cap aspect crest you start looting everything bellow it. Or you can directly trade them for lower level at the end of the season when there is no cap.

I dont see how this is an issue.

with the rate you get with not timing & the 1 to 6 exchange it makes it pretty useless but at least it’s something. i think it’s only useful for people who does so many keys in a week

Open World content needs a Vendor. Time Rifts and Dreamsurges had one why does Emerald Dream not?
This week and last I’ve had no upgrades (apart from those with Crests and Stones) and the week before was only a ring.
I need Shoulders, Hands, Feet, Wrists, a ring and 2 trinkets so not like I’m hoping for only 1 or 2 slots to drop.

The first few weeks of Emerald Dream was quite good as I was getting 3 or 4 pieces a week as I needed every slot.
But 3 weeks of chores for 1 ring isn’t feeling good. And it’s an easy solution, a vendor. Hopefully 10.2.5 will have one.
Also let the vendor have trinkets as I’m not sure they drop in the open world rewards.

It’s definitely better than it was in 10.1 though, I’m getting more stones and crests for the actual upgrades. I’m 443 just now which ain’t so bad for open world content only.

Definitely agree with the OP… The new system is fantastic!!

SL made me quit WoW for almost two patches. DF is way nore entertaining than anything we had in SL.

My only gripe is that the last zone felt a bit mediocre but that’s a discussion for another time.

Faster gearing with the upgrade system as an alternative solution hits the right spot for me.

If people can’t bring themselves to play once they max out their gear that’s on them. For me the real game starts once I am fully geared.

Well we would have to do the math… but intuitivelly: If you dont do many dungeons per week you dont have peices to upgrade to begin with.

Because loot in M+ is kinda scarce IMO.

The new gearing system is 100% a win. I hope this system continues into 11.0.

There are improvements to be made of course, but frankly, I love this system so far.

truee but i have so many loot from raids atm that i need to upgrade + vaults so i need to do keys to reach 476-77 with crests . i do the keys but i can’t say i benefitted from the crest exchange a lot as an average player becaue of the rates

Did not understand your gearing strategy very well.

But the issue you mention IMO is not a problem of the upgrade system but the problem is the interlink of Raid and M+.

From what I understood you mainly raid. And dont do much M+. Im the oposite.

And its frustrating for both because I want gear from raid for which I dont have time, and you want crests from M+ for which you dont have time.

Changing one or the other would affect M+/Raids respectevely. So… tough bone to solve for Blizz…

What I will say is that giving unique gear in Raid, and caping M+ rewards at a +20 are strategies that have been tested unsuccesfully for too many tiers. Time to try something else.

The game is a lot more welcoming now and definitely feels a lot more manageable as far as getting gear and upgrading it goes. I feel the same way as you about the way all of that works now.

I’m not too thrilled with where the story is right now, but that can easily be put right. The foundations are all in great shape though to see us through into the time where the story does get good.

Hi, i agree, this is an issue… but a minor one that impacts few people.

I dont think the majority of players can skip serval tiers before they’ve upgraded their gear.

That being said… I’d prefer it simplified… only have 1 currency, and let all gear be upgraded all the way to mythic. But for each upgrade it gets progressivly more expensive… higher content gives more currency…

Who cares if lfr raiders get mythic gear from it after some time :man_shrugging:

I think that is what Blizz wanted to get rid of since we had that with valor  I think this system isn’t perfect but it is still better than valor. Especially because valor needed restrictions on farming. Higher prices for higher upgrades isn’t very nice either since it makes people ‘waste’ even more time in +2’s.

no actually i’ve done so many keys but got more loot from raids in 3-4 days of raiding xd i think maybe a currency we can earn by doing keys that’ll let us buy more crests at a certain rate could help but not sure

Weird. Cause my case its the other way arround. Must be that RNG is not in your favour… :frowning:

I literally was almost full hero gear first week of patch. By friday of the 2nd week I was already full hero.

Been upgrading non stop since then, and I think I stepped foot on like… 10 keys < 17 in the whole patch. And they were keys to help out friends and alts…

Im like 3 upgrades away from being full 483… so… From here all I have left to do is just hope for BiS gear. But upgrading that only costs flightstones, and im drowning in those so no biggie.
