New idea: Heroic dungeons while leveling

Right now everything is so undertuned that you don’t even have to think and it doesn’t matter what you do, everything dies in your path. I’ve read of new players quitting the game because of how easy it is. So why not add a heroic dungeon mode which gives more XP for people who want at least a bit of challenge while leveling?

I like the idea, but I have a better one - make the entire leveling actually interesting. Open world, dungeons doesn’t matter - make it a fun challenge, not a mobile MMO.

I have no idea why they made it like this.

Because people done old content many times already and want to go quickly.

With the shadowlands changes of choosing an expansion to level in and it scaling from 10-50 that means the dungeons might also scale like that, including the ones that have Heroic versions.

So you could level from 10-50 doing say Cata or MoP heroic dungeons with increased rewards over normal ones.

Though the Heroic ones could just be the max level of the expansion when out of Chromie Time. Don’t quite know how the more difficult dungeons will be queued with the new scaling

Hmm intresting can you show me some links as i find that very sad players are leaving due to that .Its usually toxic players that push them away due to them not having looms or being a little slower then others .
So this is the first ive read of it so any info you can link would be good thank you .

I actually like that idea eventhough I have done the dungeons so many times at this point.

As long as there’s incresed exp that makes the increased time investment worthwhile I would like a more challenging version of the leveling dungeons.

It would also be a better preparation for the actual endgame content (mythic+ for example). In the current state things like interrupts or cc is just not encouraged at all in the leveling dungeons and most mechanics can be ignored.

It would probably need a little more than just making heroic mode accessible while leveling. Classic dungeons for example don’t have a heroic mode. Another thing would be making interrupts accesible to all classes on an early level. Interrupts are currently super inconsistent across the different classes. Druid tanks for example currently get their interrupt at lvl 70 (!) iirc. I think it would be a good idea to give interrupts to every class (that has an interrupt) on a very early level and actively encourage interrupting. That way we won’t end up with people joining +8 keys without even using their interrupt.

Another positive effect of making heroic mode accessible would be that we could play heroic only dungeons again. Anyone remembers the Zul’Gurub and Zul’Aman 5-man dungeons for example? I barely do, because there’s just no way we can really play and experience them right now.

We’ll probably have to wait and see how leveling dungeons will feel in shadowlands, but I’m generally for a more challenging leveling experience.

Yeah. I don’t believe that either. Of course in a game this large, almost everything that can happen, does happen at least a few times.

But no, I don’t believe this happens more than once in a blue moon.

So, with Daestra, I’d like to see some evidence, please.

I quitted for months because of all the kicks and toxicity. I even got kicked yesterday for not having hierlooms, and getting 30 minute deserted.

If anything needed, it is some sort of new player queue. Or a checkbox that people show they are new and or agree with queueing with new players.

Maybe not heroic mode, but optional choice to add random m+ affix to the run (for extra exp), so this way people gets reward, makes things a bit harder and also teches people about affixes (affixes could also be nerfed to 50%, but still plenty to take in for new players). Like you select heroic mode of the dungeon, and instead of scaling mob dmg/hp, you get grevious, or bursting, or sanguine, etc. etc. Ofc some effort from blizz side should be done, which mobs trigger affixes (like wailing caverns - tons of normal mobs - do they bolster or no?), etc.etc.
